To be eligible for a scholarship, candidates have the freedom to pursue the study field of their choice. At the moment, the Cecil Renaud Scholarship is available for postgraduate students who are chasing after a Honours degree, or are currently studying towards a four-year undergraduate degree.

The Cecil Renaud Scholarship Eligibility Criteria are as follows:
- Displays outstanding academic track records, with recommendations from the Dean or certificates of Merit (undergraduate or Honours Degree must have a cum laude/summa cum laude status)
- Pursuing their studies at an accredited South African university
- Finished their secondary school education in KwaZulu-Natal
- Below 27 years old when registering for their studies.

Candidates should provide accurate information that is factual to their current conditions. Anyone discovered to be falsifying any aspects of their applications will be disqualified from the programme.
Additionally, candidates must provide the following documents:
- A certified copy of your birth certified
- Legitimate proof of both your courses and degrees (must show the classes you’re taking, standards, distinctions that are relevant)
- Degree certificates from your studies
- Your most updated Curriculum Vitae (CV)
- A statement that has been signed showing your general interests and activities, and your study course, an explanation why you chose that study course and what kind of work your planning to pursue after graduation
- A letter of motivation explaining why you deserve this scholarship
- A passport-sized photograph.
All these documents should be included in your application dossier. Incomplete applications will not be eligible for the selection process.

Applications for the Cecil Renaud Scholarship must be submitted before the closing date on 31 October 2021.
The selection committee has absolute zero tolerance for late applications. Submissions made past the closing date will not be acknowledged during the registration period.
