About the Shoprite Group Bursaries 2021
The Shoprite Group is offering bursary programme in three (3) different study fields for individuals who require financial aid to pursue their education. The Shoprite Group Bursaries is a remarkable opportunity that allows you to obtain immediate financial assistance to support your educational pursuit. Shoprite is currently on the search for more bright-minded university students who are passionate about their respective study fields and are willing to grow into positive contributors towards their local communities.

The Shoprite Group Bursaries is currently opening several bursary positions for the following fields:

  • x10 Accounting (CA Stream – SAICA) (Ref. No.: SHO210226-6)
  • x10 Information Technology/Systems (Ref. No.: SHO210226-5)
  • x10 Data Science (Ref. No.: SHO210226-3)

Eligibility Criteria
Candidates interested in the Shoprite Group Bursaries must fulfill an eligibility criteria before proceeding with their applications. Each of these items below will determine whether you have what it takes to proceed with this bursaries. To guarantee a successful application, candidates are advised to meet all of the following requirements. Failure to do so will cause disadvantageous consequences towards the overall result of your applications. Be sure to jot down these items for personal reference.

The Shoprite Group Bursaries Eligibility Criteria are as follows:
1. Basic Requirements

  • Officially recognized as a citizen of South Africa
  • Currently 27 years old and below.

2. Accounting (CA Stream – SAICA)

  • Possesses a BCom Accounting, BAcc (CA stream) qualification
  • Currently in their 2nd academic year
  • Attained at least a 65% average aggregate score.

3. Information Technology/Systems

  • Possesses a BSc/BCom/Btech (Advanced Diploma) in the field of Information
  • Technology/System Analysis
  • Currently in their 2nd-4th or Honours academic year

4. Data Science

  • Possesses either a degree or postgraduate qualification in the following subjects:
    • Statistics
    • Industrial Engineering
    • Operational Research
    • Quantitative Management
    • Computer Science
    • Mathematics
    • Data Science
  • Currently in their 2nd-4th or Honours academic year
  • Attained at least a 60% aggregate score
  • Obtained at least 65% in Mathematics from their 2nd academic year

Candidates are required to create an account to proceed with your registration. This account will be used to store your personal details and supporting documents. Make sure you keep your account secure at all times.

By sending in your applications, you are hereby giving permission to the selection committee to have your personal information utilized for registration purposes.

Applications will be subjected to further evaluation and vetting procedures to verify the validity of candidates. Anyone discovered to be falsifying any aspects of their applications will be disqualified from the registration period.

Candidates must process their applications through the portal provided above. Submissions made through other methods, such as email or fax, will not be accepted by the selection committee.

Important Note
Shoprite will be implementing their Employment Equity policies during the recruitment process. The programme is currently open for both internal and external recruitment. However, consideration will be offered to internal candidates first before moving onto external candidates – provided that this helps the company fulfill their Employment Equity goals.

Closing Date
Applications for the Shoprite Group Bursaries must be submitted before the closing date on 30 April 2021.

The selection committee has absolute zero tolerance for late applications. Submissions made past the closing date will not be acknowledged during the registration period.

Candidates are advised to send in their applications as soon as possible. This will leave you with some time to properly evaluate the contents of your applications. Kindly prepare your applications at your earliest convenience.

Announcements will only be made to shortlisted candidates. Should you not hear back from the selection committee within 30 days past the closing date, we regret to inform that your application has not been accepted.
