About TETA (Transport Education Training Authority)
The Transport Education Training Authority, commonly referred to as TETA, is an establishment formed over governmental mandates that aims to assist South African individuals with the necessary Skills Development Framework. TETA is specfically focused on encouraging programmes that have to do with the nation’s Transport Sector. At the moment, TETA specializes in several types of modes of transportation, which are:
- Forwarding and Clearing
- Maritime
- Road Passenger
- Aerospace
- Road Freight
- Freight Handling
- Taxi
- Rail

TETA (Transport Education Training Authority) Bursary Programmes 2026
The Transport Education Training Authority (TETA) is encouraging fellow South African students to participate in their bursary schemes for the 2026 terms. The TETA Bursaries, which are especially allocated for students who are not employed by any company or establishment, is a chance for local folks to receive financial assistance that will truly benefit the throughout the 2026 academic year. The bursary schemes provides coverage for several school-related expenses, such as tuition fees, transporation expenses (if there is any), on/off campus accommodation costs, prescribed study materials, and meal costs.
WHAT DOES THE TETA BURSARY COVER?
The TETA Bursary provides financial support for the following:
- Tuition fees
- Accommodation (on-campus or off-campus)
- Transport (where applicable)
- Prescribed books
- Meals
Eligibility Criteria
Before you can start on your applications for the TETA (Transport Education Training Authority) Bursary Programmes 2026, candidates must fulfill the eligibility criteria that has been standardized by the committee. All of these items will be used by the selection committee to assess all of their incoming candidates on a fair basis. Failure to meet everything below may cost you your chances of acceptance into the programme. Therefore, make sure fulfill everything in this list below.
The TETA Bursary Programmes 2026 Requirements are as follows:
WHO CAN APPLY?
Applicants who may apply include:
- Learners currently in Grade 12 or those who have completed Matric or NCV (Level 4)
- Learners intending to pursue the qualifications listed in the advert for the 2026 academic year
- Current students at Institutions of Higher Learning (including TVET colleges) who require funding for the 2026 academic year
- Individuals who have completed Matric (Senior Certificate) and are currently studying or intending to study transport-related qualifications and Sectoral Priority Occupations and Interventions in 2026
- Aviation students holding a valid Private Pilot License (PPL) or Commercial Pilot License (CPL)
- Commercial Diving students (Class II, III, and IV) who have completed Matric (Senior Certificate).
ELIGIBILITY FOR A TETA BURSARY
Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Must be a South African citizen or Permanent Resident
- Apply only for qualifications specified in the advert
- Be a student pursuing an academic qualification
- Grade 12 learners intending to study at a Public/Private TVET College, accredited University, accredited Diving School, or accredited Flying School
- Grade 12 graduates intending to pursue studies at the above institutions
- Household income must not exceed R350 000 per annum
- First-time registration at a public or private university (undergraduate qualification) or at a public TVET college for a National Certificate Vocational
- Be previously disadvantaged, with demonstrated potential, and a minimum pass mark of 40%
- Hold a valid PPL when applying for Commercial Pilot Training
- Hold a valid CPL when applying for Instructor’s or Instrument Rating
- Hold a valid CPL, Instructor’s Rating, and Instrument Rating when applying for an ATPL.
AUTOMATIC REJECTION CRITERIA
Applications will be rejected if:
- Information provided is incorrect or incomplete
- The applicant fails to meet at least two of the eligibility criteria
- Required documents are not submitted
- The applicant is already funded by TETA or another sponsor
- Household income exceeds R350 000 per annum
- Documents are uploaded in the wrong fields
- Submitted documents are illegible.
GUIDELINES FOR COMPLETING THE ONLINE APPLICATION FORM
Please follow these instructions carefully:
- Applicants may apply for only one qualification
- Only one application per person will be accepted
- Online application link: TETA Online Bursary Application System
- For non-formal or part-time TETA learners, funding will cover tuition, books, and meals only
- Aviation and Diving Schools must submit valid accreditation certificates
- Certified documents must not be older than six (6) months
- All supporting documents must be in standard PDF format
- Ensure documents are appropriately named and uploaded to the correct fields.

Applicants are strongly encouraged to submit their applications through the online bursary application system. Hand-delivered applications will not be accepted.
Note: Applicants are strongly advised to submit all required documents to ensure that their application is fully considered.
Closing Date
Applications for the TETA Bursary Programmes 2026 are accepted until its closing date on 24 September 2025 at 23:59. Applications that are sent past the closing date and time will not be tolerated by the selection committee and you will automatically be disqualified from the applications.
Announcements will only be made to participants who have passed the bursary scheme applications. Should you not receive any word from TETA, we regret to inform you that your applications has not passed and you have not been selected for the bursary programmes.
