About the De Beers Mineral Processing Learnership 2023-2024
De Beers is offering a learnership programme for candidates who are keen on obtaining new knowledge and akills in the professional field of Mineral Processing. The De Beers Mineral Processing Learnership involves supporting the Senior Plant Foreman or Supervisor in overseeing the plant’s process flow. The goal is to achieve optimal and secure tonnage throughput, carat recovery, as well as efficient utilization of equipment and resources. Additionally, the candidate might be called upon to aid the Supervisor in gathering and evaluating plant samples.

The De Beers Mineral Processing Learnership also requires you to perform the duties below:

  • Monitor, report on, and adhere to all safety, health, and environmental requirements.
  • Ensure adherence and compliance to plant standards and parameters and report deviations.
  • Minimize Engineering and Operational downtime.
  • Report plant status to relevant Foreman at all times.
  • Monitor physical conditions and report deviations proactively.
  • Conduct risk assessments and communicate plant conditions to relevant Ore Processing Controllers.
  • Ensure accurate record keeping and reporting.
  • Form part of sectional MBA’s, SHE Management programs, and participate in Business Improvement Initiatives (i.e. RRP).
  • Take over or hand over shift from off or on-going operator and attends to any abnormalities first then reports to supervisor and receives further instructions.
  • Do physical inspection of the plant and informs the Ore Processing Foreman of any deviations and corrective action taken including job cards for engineering related problems.
  • Perform physical inspections of plant equipment according to departmental procedure to minimize breakdowns and production losses by reporting abnormalities to the Ore Processing Controller or Senior Plant Foreman.
  • Operates and monitor the plant operating parameters and related equipment and assist in equipment maintenance according to production requirements and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Communicate plant conditions and parameters to Ore Processing Controller or Supervisor to enable the monitoring or co-ordination of the production process.

  • Cleans areas of responsibility according to procedures upon instruction from the Senior Plant Foreman.

  • Makes recommendations on improvements on sampling and sample processing to the Laboratory Controller.
