About Sonke Learnership 2021-2022
Sonke is offering a 12-month learnership programme for young South African individuals who would like to develop their potential and strong business skills. The Sonke Learnership is a great opportunity that offers a chance for citizens to study for free. At the same time, you will be given the freedom to start your own business venture and earning a stipend from the programme.
Throughout the learnership, participants will be entitled to a stipend of up to R1 100 as your obtain new knowledge and learn hot to trade only. Additionally, candidates will be eligible for a data package of up to 30gig per month to support your learning journey. Candidates interested in the Sonke Learnership must first fulfill an eligibility criteria that comes with the programme. Each of these items below will determine whether you are capable enough of participating in the programme or not. To be considered an ideal fit for the learnership, please meet all of these items below. Failure to do so will cause disadvantageous consequences towards the overall result of your applications. The Sonke Learnership Eligibility Criteria are as follows:
- Officially recognized as a citizen of South Africa
- Unemployed during the time of learnership
- Between 18-28 years old
- Have a smartphone or laptop/computer available with enough memory for downloads the learnership’s app
- Be able to receive and send Whatsapp messages, emails, and SMS regularly
- Has not participated in an entrepreneurship programme prior to this
- Obtain an MTN prepaid SIM card at your own expenses
- Self-motivated to participate in this programme.

There are several steps that candidates must follow to process their applications:
Step #01: participate in a prequalification screening – once approved, you may continue to fill in the rest of your applications.
Step #02: after receiving confirmation that your application was successful, you will obtain two documents through email, which are a learnership agreement and contact of employment. These must be signed and sent to the Head Office (PEP to PEP info) within 7 days.
Step #03: once the committee has received your paperwork, you may begin your learnership, in which you will begin to receive your stipend from the first month.
By sending in your applications, you are hereby giving permission to have your personal information utilized by the selection committee for registration purposes.
Applications will be subjected to further evaluation and vetting procedures to verify the validity of candidates. Candidates found to be falsifying any aspects of their applications will not be considered for the programme.
Candidates must process their applications through the online portal above. Submissions made through other methods, such as fax or hand delivery, will not be accepted.
