About the Petra Diamonds Apprenticeships 2021-2025
Petra Diamonds is offering an external apprenticeship programmes for technically-minded candidates who wish to have a practical working exposure in the company. The Petra Diamonds Apprenticeships is a beneficial opportunity that take over the course of 4 years, with 16-20 weeks of training per year at the Mining Qualification Training Centre. Accepted apprentices will be tasked to different working stations either on surface or underground.
The Petra Diamonds Apprenticeships is available for the trades below:
- Diesel Mechanic
- Plater Welder
Preference will be offered to applicants who are current resident of the apprentice’s host labour sending area within Tshwane Municipality (candidates will need to send in proof of residence).

The Petra Diamonds Apprenticeships Eligibility Criteria are as follows:
1. Basic Requirements
- Possess an N2 Certificate with the subjects of Maths, Engineering Science, Trade Theory, and a fourth subject relevant to the trade; or
- Has a relevant Engineering NCV Certificate with seven subjects at NQF Level 3; or
- Holds a Technical Grade 12 qualification with Maths, Science, Language, and a related trade theory
- Has impressive communication abilities in English (both verbal and written).
2. Advantageous Qualities
- Has a Grade 12 qualification
- Possesses an N3/N4/N5/N6 qualification
- Shows document proof of practical experience with Engineering (at least 6 months).
3. Other Skills
- Loves to work from a hands-on approach
- Has a high level of self-motivation
- Prepared to be fully committed to the apprenticeship
- Proactive when making decision.
