The eThekwini Municipality is offering candidates the chance to obtain student relief fund to cover the educational costs in a full-time study programme. The eThekwini Municipality Student Relief Fund extends an invitation to eligible candidates who are South African Citizens permanently residing in the eThekwini Municipal Area and aspire to initiate or continue their first undergraduate studies at a public higher education institution in the upcoming 2024 academic year. Prospective applicants are encouraged to submit their requests for financial support through the eThekwini Municipal Student Relief Fund.
This assistance is exclusively designated for full-time study programs at public higher education institutions, with emphasis on academic achievement as a criterion for selection. The primary focus of the financial aid is directed towards covering registration fees, and a provision may be allocated for a portion of tuition fees. However, it’s imperative to note that this funding does not encompass accommodation, meals, books, sports, transportation, or any other associated costs. - Present proof of income/salary for both parent(s) and guardians, including pay slips, employer letters, sworn statements, or tax return statements for self-employed parents or guardians
- Ensure that the combined income of parents or guardians is R160 000.00, and if there are 2 or more students in a household, the cutoff is R200 000.00
- Show proof of unemployment if parents are currently unemployed, obtainable from the Department of Labour
- Provide a certified copy of your South African ID
- Submit ID copies of parents or guardians or death certificates where applicable
- Include an acceptance letter from the public higher education institution
- Furnish a financial statement from the higher education institution
- Write a motivation explaining why you should be considered for financial assistance
- Include proof of residence with the applicant’s name
- Ensure that your application is complete, as incomplete applications will not be considered
- Give priority to applicants who are underrepresented in terms of race, gender, and disability, as well as to eThekwini residents
- If you have not been contacted or notified within ten weeks from the closing date of this advert, consider your application unsuccessful
- Encourage people with disabilities to apply.
