Wiphold is a proudly black women-owned investment company that focuses on acquiring and building strategic investments in key economic sectors such as mining, agriculture, cement manufacturing, and financial services. Wiphold’s primary objective is to grow its holdings in these key sectors. About the Wiphold Bursaries 2024
Wiphold is encouraging candidates to register for their bursary programmes should you require immediate financial assistance to support your future studies. The Wiphold Bursaries are an open-doors initiative that encourages applicants from a wide range of demographics and life experiences.
If you are selected as a recipient of the prize, you will receive the assistance you require to pursue the academic qualification you seek. You are strongly urged to take advantage of this chance if you have achieved outstanding success in your academic pursuits and have demonstrated other admirable characteristics as a student.
The Wiphold Bursaries are available for the following fields of study:
- B Com Accounting/Chartered Accounting
- Engineering
- Agriculture
- Actuarial Science
Awardees of the Wiphold Bursaries are entitled to coverage for these listed expenses: tuition costs, prescribed study materials, accommodation costs, and a monthly allowance. Please be kindly informed that the total amount of the bursaries are awarded based on the availability of fundas.
Awardees are allowed to renew their bursaries provided they show consistent progress throughout their studies. However, you are obligated to participate in the necessary vacation work and other social responsibility activities that come with it.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates interested in the Wiphold Bursaries must fulfill an eligibility criteria before proceeding with their applications. Each of these items below will determine whether you have what it takes to proceed with these bursaries. To guarantee a successful application, candidates are advised to meet all of the following requirements. Failure to do so will cause disadvantageous consequences towards the overall result of your applications. Be sure to jot down these items for personal reference.
The Wiphold Bursaries Eligibility Criteria are as follows:
- Must be considered as an African learner
- Currently pursuing your Matric qualification or have accomplished your Matric
- Passionate about being a Chartered Accountant, Engineer, Actuary, or Agriculturist
- Must be pursuing one of the study fields mentioned above
- Obtained at least a 70% score in Mathematics (not Maths Literacy) and English (5 in the NSC Scale of Achievement)
- Must have enrolled a minimum of 2 universities (one of them should be closest to your area of residence).

In the appropriate spaces provided on the application form, please jot down the most pertinent answers you can think of. The entirety of your personal information that you provide ought to accurately reflect your current state of affairs.
Additionally, you will need to provide the documents below:
- Your most recent photograph
- All appropriate testimonials, certificates or supportive (certified)
- A copy of parents/guardian’s salary advice (certified)
- Grade 11 results or Matric results if passed last year documents (certified)
- A short essay on your self, your family, your career and future plans
- In your own handwriting on a separate piece of paper, please briefly answer the following questions:
- Why do you wish to become a Chartered Accountant/Actuary/Engineer or Agriculturist? (select one)
- What, in your opinion, are the special talents required to succeed as a Chartered Accountant/Actuary/Engineer or Agriculturist? (your selection)
- Why do you think you can succeed as a Chartered Accountant/Actuary/Engineer or Agriculturist ? (your selection).
All applications must contain the documents above. Incomplete application dossiers will immediately be disqualified.

Closing Date
Applications for the Wiphold Bursaries must be submitted before the closing date on 30 November 2023.
The committee in charge of making selections has an absolute zero tolerance policy regarding late applications. During the registration period, we will not acknowledge any submissions that are received after the deadline has passed.
Applicants are strongly encouraged to submit their materials as quickly as humanly possible. You will now have some time to conduct an accurate analysis of the information contained in your applications thanks to this development. Please have your applications ready as soon as it is convenient for you to do so.
Successful candidates will only be announced in January (right after the Matric results are known). However, provisional successful candidates, based on Grade 11 final results, will be announced by 30 November. If you have not received any news by then, we regret to inform you that you have not been chosen by the selection committee.
During the appointment process, Wiphold will have the opportunity to make a decision regarding whether or not to make an appointment. They are free to choose how to proceed with this matter. In every instance, the decisions that the selection committee reaches are final and cannot be reversed.
