About Lesedi Nuclear Services
In order to support the South African nuclear power industry, Lesedi Nuclear Services was established to offer engineering, planned maintenance services, and technical resources. Since 2006, Lesedi has expanded into a significant Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) firm that assists Eskom with its New Build Program and manages other infrastructure projects including electricity. In particular, at the Koeberg Nuclear Power Station and the Medupi Coal Power Station, Lesedi Nuclear Services has substantial expertise in the implementation of turnkey engineering projects in the nuclear and non-nuclear industries.
With a strong emphasis on localization and empowerment, Lesedi is now a Level 3 Broad Based Black Empowerment Enterprise (BBBEE). It employs over 300 people, including 76 qualified engineers and technicians with extensive nuclear expertise, as well as technicians, artisans, semi-skilled and administrative support staff, and highly qualified project management professionals.
About the Lesedi Nuclear Services Nuclear Engineering Bursary 2023
Lesedi Nuclear Services is providing bursaries for X20 future Nuclear Science and Technology engineers coming from previously disadvantaged backgrounds. The Lesedi Nuclear Services Nuclear Engineering Bursary provides bursaries for the following study fields:
1. Postgraduate Diploma in Nuclear Science and Technology
In order to prepare students for the Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Engineering Sciences with Nuclear Engineering, which focuses on the optimization of nuclear reactor design, this PGDip mostly teaches theory.
2. Postgraduate Diploma in Nuclear Science and Technology with Nuclear Technology Management
The Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Engineering Sciences with Nuclear Engineering and Nuclear Technology Management degree, which focuses on the optimization of Nuclear Technology Management, is prepared for students by this PGDip by teaching the theory.
The Lesedi Nuclear Services Nuclear Engineering Bursary will be provided at the North-West University in Potchefsroom, in which the institution will begin providing theoretical instruction to the chosen individuals. After successfully completing it, the work-based learning will take place in Lesedi’s offices:

- An NQF Level 7 or NQF Level 8 BTech (Engineering) degree with an average aggregate score of at least 60% for the final year.
2. Postgraduate Diploma in Nuclear Science and Technology with Nuclear Technology Management
- A BEng or BIng, BSc (Eng) degree, or any equivalent NQF Level 8 qualification; or
- A three-year BSc degree with at least second-year level Physics and at least one of Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, or Computer Science at, at least second-year level (exists at NQF Level 7); or
- An NQF Level 7 BTech (Engineering) degree
- An NQF Level 8 BEngTech (Engineering) degree.
