About Saaberie Chishty Society
Named after a Sufi Spiritual Order, the Saaberie Chishty Youth Society was founded. Named for the Muslim Saint Hazraat Saabir Paak (Sheikh Sayed Alauddin Ali-Ahmed Saabir R.A), whose mausoleum is located in Kalyar Shareef Rurkie, Northern India. The famed Khwaja Gharibun-Nawaaz (Sheikh Sayed Muinuddin Hassan Sanjari R.A.), whose shrine at Ajmer Shareef in Rajistan, India, is the location of the second-largest yearly gathering of Muslims in the world, propagated the Chishtiya order across Asia.

The Saaberie Chishty Society has evolved from a single burial society into a multifaceted organization that supports the poor and needy, promotes Islamic education through madressas, upholds the true Islamic way of life through masjids, fosters knowledge of Ahle Sunnat Wa Jamaat through a research council, establishes Zia-ul-Uloom (an institute for higher Islamic education), trains future huffaz and ulama, and operates an ambulance.

About the Saaberie Chishty Society Bursary 2023
The Saaberie Chishty Society is offering a bursary programme for candidates who are looking for financial assistance to fund their academic endeavours. The Zakaat Bursary Programme for 2023 is now officially available for applicants who aspire to pursue university education at any authorized institution within South Africa, the Saaberie Chishty Society Bursary is happy to announce. As a non-profit humanitarian organization, they have a responsibility to invest in the future of their nation, and the Zakaat Bursary Program makes sure that capable students are not excluded for want of funding.

Awardees of the Saaberie Chishty Society Bursary will be entitled to financial assistance to cover tuition expenses, prescribed study materials, books, dail meals, and accommodation costs. Unfortunately, the bursary does not cover meals/accommodation at a private residence, travel costs, and stationary costs (laptops, pens, writing books).

Eligibility Criteria

• Officially recognized as a citizen of South Africa or a Foreign National with a proper study permit for South Africa
• Currently below 30 years old
• Proven to be Zakaatable or has proven eligibility to utilize Zakaat funds
• Passionate about studying or enrolled to study
• Pursuing your first and only degree.

Additionally, you will need to provide the following documents:

• A certified copy of a valid high school diploma or other credentials. (Required of all pertinent applicants)
• Paystubs and three months’ worth of bank statements are acceptable forms of identification for applicants, parents/guardians, and spouses, if any
• A letter of motivation outlining why your application should be accepted
• A certified copy of each person’s identity, including spouse, parents, and/or legal guardians
• Any additional paperwork that SCYS needs to process your application
• For first-time applicants, enclose a copy of your proof of application and/or a letter of provisional acceptance from a university or other educational institution (SCYS notes that these may not be available at time of application, however it will be required as part of key application process)
• Complete academic records must be attached if currently enrolled (mandatory to all relevant applicants).

As an alternative, you can submit your application using your phone because it is much more convenient than using a computer. You can use Google Chrome as your web browser if you have an Android-powered phone. You don’t need to install any additional browsers because Google Chrome is pre-installed on OS Android smartphones.

The whole selection committee, which includes you, will evaluate the information you submit. You should thus double-check to make sure there are no false statements.

You hereby authorize the selection committee to use your personal information for registration purposes by sending in your applications.

The legitimacy of the applicants will be confirmed through additional review and vetting procedures for applications. During the registration period, anyone found to have lied about anything on their application will not be permitted to register.

Candidates must submit their applications using the aforementioned portal. The selection committee will not accept submissions sent by hand delivery or fax or by any other means.

All applications will be reviewed by the bursary committee, who will then narrow the field of candidates. After the procedure is complete, all applicants will be informed through email or SMS of the status of their applications.

For an interview, short-listed candidates will be contacted by phone, email, or WhatsApp. NB: Depending on the location, the interview will either be performed in person at the Saaberie Chishty offices or online using MS Teams or Zoom.

Closing Date
Applications for the Saaberie Chishty Society Bursary must be submitted before the closing date on 23 January 2023.

You may ensure that your application is approved as soon as possible by enrolling as soon as you can. This is only meant to give you a stable position while you are being recruited; it does not, however, guarantee immediate success.

The selection committee will not review applications submitted by candidates after the deadline. Regardless of their content, any entries received after the deadline will be immediately rejected.

Saaberie Chishty Society holds all rights to appoint anyone during the recruitment period. All decisions made by the selection committee are final.
