About Johannesburg Water
On the 21st of November 2000, Johannesburg Water SOC Ltd (JW) was formed, and the following day, on the 1st of January 2001, it began operations as an independent corporation. JW came into being as a direct result of a program known as the iGoli 2002 Transformation Plan, which was headed up by the previous Greater Johannesburg Metropolitan Council. The organization has around 750 000 residential, commercial, and industrial clients that it services, giving it a total consumer base of approximately 3.8 million people.
The provision of water and sanitation services to the people living in Johannesburg is within JW’s official remit. It provides water and sanitation services to a region that encompasses Orange Farm, which is located to the south of Johannesburg, Midrand, which is located to the north, Roodepoort, which is located to the west, and Alexandra, which is located to the east.
