About Johannesburg Water
On the 21st of November 2000, Johannesburg Water SOC Ltd (JW) was formed, and the following day, on the 1st of January 2001, it began operations as an independent corporation. JW came into being as a direct result of a program known as the iGoli 2002 Transformation Plan, which was headed up by the previous Greater Johannesburg Metropolitan Council. The organization has around 750 000 residential, commercial, and industrial clients that it services, giving it a total consumer base of approximately 3.8 million people.
The provision of water and sanitation services to the people living in Johannesburg is within JW’s official remit. It provides water and sanitation services to a region that encompasses Orange Farm, which is located to the south of Johannesburg, Midrand, which is located to the north, Roodepoort, which is located to the west, and Alexandra, which is located to the east. It is divided into six areas and has ten network depots and six wastewater treatment units throughout those districts.

Johannesburg Water is offering financial assistance for academically talented tertiary institutions students who are currently pursuing their education. The Johannesburg Water Bursaries is an all-inclusive programme that welcomes people of all different backgrounds. The Johannesburg Water Bursaries is currently available for the following study fields:
- BEng Tech: Civil Engineering (2nd year)
- BSc Civil Engineering (2nd year)
- B Com Finance/Financial Accounting (2nd year).
In accordance with the policy of Johannesburg Water’s bursary program, students who demonstrate both academic excellence and financial need are eligible to receive financial assistance.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates interested in the Johannesburg Water Bursaries must fulfill an eligibility criteria before proceeding with their applications. The Johannesburg Water Bursaries Eligibility Criteria are as follows:
- Officially recognized as a citizen of South Africa or a permanent resident
- Pursuing their education at an accredited tertiary institution
- Has not been pursuing any bursary award prior to this one (excluding NSFAS)
- Preference is offered to female candidates and people with disabilities
- All race groups are welcome to apply
- Currently pursuing either one of the following study fields:
