About the H&I Construction Bursaries 2022-2023
H&I Construction is seeking for candidates who are keen on obtaining a bursary programme to obtain financial assistance in their respective professional fields. Prior to obtaining the bursaries, candidates will be required to attent the Matric Gap Year Programme 2024.

1. Matric Gap Year Programme 2024

H&I Construction, a civil and building contractor located in Cape Town, is extending an invitation to all present Grade 12 students to submit applications for their matric gap year initiative. Those who are selected will be granted the chance to engage in diverse areas within Civil Engineering and Construction fields, including:

• Commercial Building
• Renewable Energy
• Solar Power
• Structural Concrete Works
• Marine, Water and Sanitation
• New Road Construction and Rehabilitation

2. Bursary Opportunities

Bursaires are granted upon finishing the Gap Year Programme and are determined by:

• Performance on site throughout the Gap Year
• Admission to any of the following higher education institutions for pursuing studies in BSc / BEng / BEng Tech / Civil Engineering / Construction Management / Construction
• The ultimate decisions are reached by an internal committee.

• University of CapeTown
• Nelson Mandela University
• University of Pretoria
• Stellenbosch University
• Cape Peninsula University of Technology

Eligibility Criteria
If you’re confident about enrolling in the H&I Construction Bursaries, you’re encouraged to register. However, if you’re uncertain about your suitability, there’s no need to fret. The H&I Construction Bursaries Eligibility Criteria are as follows:

• Should be in Grade 12 in 2023
• Must be a South African citizen
• Need a minimum of 60% for pure/technical mathematics & physical science
• Must be willing to take a gap year in 2024
• Should be willing to relocate within the borders of South Africa for the duration of 2024
• Must plan to study Civil Engineering or Construction in 2025.
