About the Implats (Impala Platinum) Graduate Internships 2023-2025
Implats (Impala Platinum) is seeking for graduate candidates who which to obtain experience within their relevant work field through their Graduate Internships. The Implats (Impala Platinum) Graduate Internships program is dedicated to empowering the youth through skills development. It offers graduates a valuable opportunity to acquire practical work experience essential for the Platinum Group Metals (PGM) industry.

During the internship, participants are encouraged to bring innovation to the table, actively engaging in technical and business improvement projects. This ensures that the company stays at the forefront of advancements and maintains its commitment to excellence. By fostering a collaborative and dynamic learning environment, the program aims to equip graduates with the necessary tools and expertise to excel in their future careers.

The Implats (Impala Platinum) Graduate Internships require you to perform the duties below:

• Completing a comprehensive twenty-four (24) months internship training program aimed at enriching one’s understanding of the PGM industry and gaining exposure to various technical, safety, and managerial aspects of engineering in a production setting.
• Participating in all mandatory training and development courses as specified.
• Submitting reports in accordance with the training requirements.
• Offering technical assistance to operational departments to support the achievement of the company’s business plan and operational objectives.

Eligibility Criteria
The Implats (Impala Platinum) Graduate Internships is open to candidates who meet the eligibility criteria specified by the program. These criteria will be used to assess candidates fairly, determining their suitability for the learnership. Failure to meet these requirements will result in disqualification from the registration process.

The Implats (Impala Platinum) Graduate Internships Eligibility Criteria are as follows:

1. Environemntal

• Obtain NQF Level 7 in Environmental Management Sciences
• Demonstrate knowledge of Environmental Management Systems (EMS) principles
• Familiarize yourself with basic information about Refineries processes and pollution impacts
• Ensure you are medically fit for BMR and/or PMR.

2. Electrical Engineering

• Attain NQF Level 7 qualification in Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current)
• Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of engineering disciplines
• Acquire basic knowledge of operations and plant processes
• Ensure you are medically fit for various operations (Concentrator Operations, Smelting Operations, PMR, and BMR).

3. Nursing

• Obtain NQF Level 6 Diploma in General Nursing/Occupational Health
• Consider registration with the South African Nursing Council to be an added advantage
• Demonstrate knowledge of basic nursing care, primary health care, and health screening, including spirometry/audiometry
• Acquire knowledge of Occupational related legislation
• Possess sound analytical, interpersonal, problem-solving, and communication skills
• Ensure you are medically fit for BMR and/or PMR.

4. Mechanical Engineering

• Achieve NQF Level 7 qualification in Mechanical Engineering
• Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of engineering disciplines
• Ensure you are medically fit for various operations (Concentrator Operations, Smelting Operations, PMR, and BMR).

5. Chemical / Metallurgy Engineering

• Obtain NQF Level 7 qualification in Chemical Engineering/Metallurgy
• Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of Chemical Engineering principles and/or Metallurgical principles
• Ensure you are medically fit for various operations (Concentrator Operations, Smelting Operations, PMR, and BMR).

Priority will be given to candidates from designated groups in alignment with the Employment Equity Act, the company’s recruitment policy, and its Employment Equity Plan.
