In the Dis-Chem HR (Human Resources) Learnership, you will play a vital role in supporting the HR Centres of Excellence. Your responsibilities will involve performing necessary day-to-day activities and gaining practical experience in various processes within the HR department. By actively participating in these tasks, you will have the opportunity to learn and develop a comprehensive understanding of HR operations. This hands-on experience will contribute to your growth and enable you to contribute effectively to the HR team’s objectives.

The Dis-Chem HR (Human Resources) Learnership requires you to perform the following duties:

  • Collaborate with the HR team to log Heat Calls for organizational changes as requested
  • Utilize various HR systems to upload and file documents efficiently
  • Extend administrative support to the HR Department, assisting with diverse tasks
  • Ensure that personnel records are well-maintained and organized across different HR systems
  • Take detailed meeting minutes during HR meetings and distribute them to the relevant parties
  • Assist with onboarding processes when necessary, ensuring a smooth transition for new employees
  • Promptly provide required forms and documentation as requested by the business
  • Address and assist in resolving business inquiries and requests in a timely manner
  • Offer support for ad-hoc activities within your HR department as requested
  • Take charge of organizing the team calendar, including coordinating training schedules and venues
  • Accurately record and maintain a comprehensive log of all cashier training activities, submitting them promptly to the appropriate individuals
  • Track department invoice payments diligently, ensuring the invoice spreadsheet is consistently updated
  • Keep an up-to-date stock and asset register for equipment and consumables
  • Manage travel arrangements for the team, including accommodation, flights, and car hire, ensuring timely approval by the relevant personnel
  • Provide excellent customer service in the HR department by serving as a point of contact for general queries from both internal and external customers, using various communication channels
  • Ensure effective and timely communication with all relevant stakeholders through verbal and written means
  • Notify management of any discrepancies or issues related to systems, documentation, or unresolved matters
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment in adherence to Dis-Chem standards
  • Adhere strictly to Dis-Chem Policies and Standard Operating Procedures.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Have a strong command of the English language, with the ability to read, write, and speak effectively. Must possess basic knowledge and skills to utilize various communication methods and engage with individuals at different levels. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required
  • Exhibit excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
  • Recognize the importance of following procedures and adhere to relevant protocols
  • Maintain a professional demeanor and conduct oneself in a professional manner
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Earn a Degree in HR Management or a related field (advantageous)
  • Acquire previous working experience in a similar environment (advantageous).
