About the WSP Internship 2025
WSP is on the search for applicants who would like to receive proper work experience in the mining field through their fruitful and qualified internship programme. WSP is looking to hire up to three Mine Closure Interns for a one-year internship starting in January 2025. These interns will assist with a variety of tasks both locally and across the continent, with opportunities to work in sectors such as industrial, power, and renewables.

The selected candidates will gain hands-on experience by accompanying senior mine closure practitioners on site visits, contributing to the creation of closure and rehabilitation planning reports, helping to calculate and finalize closure costs, and supporting communication with clients. Upon successful completion of the internship, WSP intends to offer a permanent position to the most suitable candidate, providing an exciting opportunity for career growth within the Mine Closure team.

The WSP Internship Eligibility Criteria are as follows:

1. Basic Qualifications

  • Hold a BSc degree (preferably in spatial/geographical sciences); or
  • Obtain a BA (Hons) in Environmental Management; or
  • Earn a BTech/BEng degree in civil or environmental engineering; or
  • Complete a Landscape Architecture degree (BScLArch)
  • Have access to an own vehicle; and
  • Possess a valid driver’s license
  • Provide a passport (a plus)
  • Demonstrate at least moderate proficiency in using MS Excel
  • Exhibit proficiency in Google Earth Pro, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and other Microsoft Office applications
  • Show capability in using MS Projects (beneficial but not essential)
  • Display numeracy and quantification skills
  • Apply spatial and three-dimensional thinking and planning abilities
  • Develop technical writing skills
  • Make and implement technical decisions with guidance from intermediate and senior staff
  • Deliver project activities in alignment with daily project requirements, focusing primarily on data collection, processing, and initial interpretation.
