About the Wits Health HUBB
The Wits Health HUB, formed in 2020, is a healthcare establishment founded by well-renowned researcher from the University of the Witwatersrand. Their interest in youth health, as well as their previous work with adolescents in Soweto on a variety of community health research initiatives, brought their attention to the fact that health and poverty are inextricably intertwined. Under the jurisdiction of the Wits Health Institute, the establishment continues to support young people and their families all over the country.

About the Wits Health HUBB Learnership 2021-2022
Wits Health HUBB is providing a learnership programme for South African individuals who are interested in obtaining new experiences and skills in the field. The Wits Health HUBB Learnership is an opportunity that allows learners to receive the necessary training and qualifications that is required in the healthcare field. This learnership is dedicated to youths who are unemployed.

Learners will be encouraged to uplift their potential and develop a stronger consciousness in health and personal wellbeing. Upon successful completion of the learnership, you will be eligible for an NQF Level 3 qualification as Health Promotion Officer.

At the moment, the learnership is looking for 30 participants to undergo through the learnership at the Kunokhanya Training Academy. The learnership will consist of both online and in-person training sessions due to the conditions of the pandemic. Eligibility Criteria
Before applying for the Wits Health HUBB Learnership, candidates must meet certain qualifying requirements. Each of the criteria listed below will decide if you have what it takes to continue with this learnership. Candidates are recommended to fulfill all of the following criteria to ensure a successful application. Failure to do so will have negative implications for the overall outcome of your applications. The Wits Health HUBB Learnership Eligibility Criteria are as follows:
1. Basic Requirements

  • Currently between 18-35 years old
  • Officially residing in the Soweto area
  • Is not employed, or pursuing any education of training programmes
  • Has a Matric Qualification or Community Health Work NQF Level 3/Primary Health Care (National Certificate Vocational 3)
  • Prepared to undergo through the entire duration of the 12-month programme.

2. Additional Attributes

  • Has a good understanding of computer literacy
  • Be mobile enough to perform work within the community areas
  • Has good visual and hearing abilities
  • Has prior experience dealing in the health, community, or counselling work.

  • A copy of your educational documents (two-page PDF document)

  • Legitimate copies of your post-school certificates (Grade 11/12 report).

All these documents must be included in your application dossiers. Incomplete dossiers will be rejected from the registration period.

Closing Date
Applications for the Wits Health HUBB Learnership must be submitted before the closing date on 18 August 2021.

The selection committee has absolute zero tolerance for late applications. Submissions made past the closing date will not be acknowledged during the registration period.

Announcements will only be made to shortlisted candidate. If you do not hear back from the selection committee within a week past the closing date, we regret to inform you that you have not been chosen for the programme.
