The Department of Transport and Public Works is welcoming enthusiastic South African individuals who wish to finish their FETC by becoming Traffic Students. The Western Cape Dept of Transport and Public Works: Traffic Student Intake 2023-2024 is an well-rounded opportunity for students to attain their certificate in the field of Road Traffic Law Enforcement. Over the course of 12 months, participants will acquire the necessary knowledge and skills in order to advance their potential. Upon successful completion of the programme, students may be entitled to permanent employment.

The programme will take officially take place on 08 January 2024. Depending on where you would like to apply the programme at, students will need to report to the Training Centre of your desired location. Throughout your journey, you will be given a monthly allowance of R5 000 as additional support

Eligibility Criteria

  • Be prepared to undergo a number of assessments (e.g. panel interview, fitness tests, etc.)
  • Willing to work under irregular hours
  • Can find their own accommodation.

Advantageous Criteria

  • Has at least one year of continuous driving experience

  • Has solid understanding of road traffic legislations
  • Conducts effective traffic control
  • Makes sure that crime rates are low
  • Tending to any available administrative matters.

  • Possesses impressive communication capabilities (written and verbal)
  • Displays astounding abilities in public relations
  • Willing to perform under pressure
  • Fluent in two or more official provincial languages
  • Has a high-level of self confidence
  • Can work independently or with other team members.
