About the V&A Waterfront Mechanical Apprenticeship 2026
V&A Waterfront is on the search for applicants who would like practical work exposure focusing on the Mechanical department with their apprenticeship programme. The V&A Waterfront Mechanical Apprenticeship role involves supporting the execution of both planned and reactive maintenance on a range of mechanical assets and equipment, including HVAC systems, bridges, pump stations, control panels, lifts, escalators, and building management systems.

The apprentice is responsible for carrying out maintenance-related tasks while working closely with the Mechanical Supervisor and other relevant stakeholders to ensure that all issues, concerns, and queries are addressed promptly and professionally. A strong emphasis is placed on maintaining effective communication and delivering high-quality customer service. In collaboration with the Mechanical Supervisor, the apprentice also assists in monitoring and coordinating external service providers and suppliers to ensure that work is completed to the required standards. Additionally, the role may involve providing support for ad hoc tasks and special projects as needed.

You will be required to perform the duties below:

  • Plan and prepare for the installation, wiring, testing, inspection, commissioning, and maintenance of electrical systems and control equipment under supervision
  • Perform installation planning and preparation tasks independently while working under supervision
  • Assist qualified electricians with the installation, wiring, and connection of electrical equipment and control systems
  • Install, wire, and connect electrical equipment and control systems under supervision
  • Complete installation, wiring, and connection tasks independently while working under supervision
  • Assist qualified electricians with the testing and inspection of electrical equipment, control systems, and installations
  • Test and inspect electrical equipment, control systems, and installations under supervision
  • Carry out testing and inspection activities independently while working under supervision
  • Assist experienced bricklayers with bricklaying, repair, and alteration works on construction superstructures
  • Commission electrical installations and control systems under supervision
  • Perform commissioning activities independently while working under supervision
  • Assist qualified electricians with the maintenance of electrical equipment, control systems, and installations
  • Maintain electrical equipment, control systems, and installations under supervision
