About the UNISA Postgraduate Bursaries 2022
UNISA is offering financial assistance for bright-minded students who are pursuing their Doctoral, Honours, Master’s qualification , or Postgraduate Diploma. The UNISA Postgraduate Bursaries is an all-inclusive programme that welcomes people of all different backgrounds. At the moment, the bursaries are available for all study fields.

As an awardee, you will be provided with the necessary support to chase after your academic qualification. If you display exemplary academic scores and valuable qualities as a student, you are more than encouraged to give this opportunity a shot.

Please be kindly informed of the remunerations that come with your respective bursaries:

  • Postgraduate Diploma and Honours Bursary: funding for tuition expenses only
  • Master’s Degree (Research and Experimental Research) Bursary: funding for tuition expenses and research essentials (max. R55 000) for the first 3 years of your studies (consecutive)
  • Master’s Degree (Coursework) Bursary: funding for tuition expenses and research essentials (max. R25 000) for the first 2 years of your studies (consecutive)
  • Doctoral Degree (Research) Bursary: funding for tuition expenses and research essentials (max. R89 000) for the first 4 years of your studies (consecutive)
  • Doctoral Degree (Experimental Research) Bursary: funding for tuition expenses and research essentials (max. R120 000) for the first 4 years of your studies (consecutive)

Eligibility Criteria
If you’re certain of joining the UNISA Postgraduate Bursaries, feel free to sign up! If you are still unsure whether you’d make a good fit, don’t worry. All you have to do is check the requirements below and re-check your qualifications with the selection committee’s standards. If you’d like to stand a chance of acceptance, make sure you fulfill all of the criteria that are mentioned. Failure to do so might not get you automatically disqualified, but it could reduce your chances of acceptance.

The UNISA Postgraduate Bursaries Eligibility Criteria are as follows:
1. Master’s and Doctoral Bursary Programme

  • Officially recognised as a citizen of South Africa/international students (preference is offered to South African candidates)
  • Must have finished your Research Proposal Module by the very latest 31 January 2022 (if you are registering for the MAD research)
  • Has have finished your Honours/Postgraduate Diploma programme by the very latest 31 January 2022 (if you are registering for Mater’s by Coursework)
  • Must currently be temporarily enrolled for your education towards a Master’s/Doctoral qualification at UNISA for the 2022 academic year
  • Does not have any postgraduate degree at any equivalent/highest level
  • Is not enrolled for any special study programme
  • Is not a permanent UNISA staff member.

2. Postgraduate Diploma and Honours Bursary Programme

  • Officially recognised as a citizen of South Africa
  • Must have finished your undergraduate qualification by the very latest 31 January 2022
  • Obtained at least an average aggregate score of 60% for you undergraduate qualification
  • Must currently be temporarily enrolled for your education at UNISA by the very latest 28 February 2022
  • Planning to pursue a Postgraduate Diploma/Honours qualification at Unisa for the 2022 academic year
  • Does not have any postgraduate degree at any equivalent/highest level
  • Is not enrolled for any special study programme
  • Is not a permanent UNISA staff member.

Once you have filled everything in, please submit your online applications via myUNISA. Any communication regarding your bursary registration will be continued through your myLife e-mail account.

Your applications will be examined by the entire selection committee, which will include you, and the information you supply will be kept confidential. Closing Date
Applications for the UNISA Postgraduate Bursaries must be submitted before the closing date on 31 January 2022.

Incomplete applications will not be accepted by the selection committee. Candidates that submit their applications after the deadline will not be considered. All submissions submitted after the deadline, regardless of their substance, will be discarded without further consideration.
