Tsolo Agriculture and Rural Development Institute (TARDI), formerly known as Tsolo College of Agriculture, plays a vital role in advancing agricultural education and rural development in the Eastern Cape. Located in Mhlontlo Local Municipality, TARDI serves a predominantly rural community within the OR Tambo District Municipality, an expansive region covering 12,096 km². This district, which accounts for 21% of the Eastern Cape’s total population, is made up of five local municipalities: King Sabata Dalindyebo, Nyandeni, Mhlontlo, Port St Johns, and Ingquza Hill. Historically part of the marginalized Transkei region, the district faces unique socio-economic challenges, making TARDI’s mission of agricultural empowerment even more critical.

About the TARDI WIL (Work Integrated Learnership) 2025
TARDI is seeking for interested applicants who would like to receive practical work exposure through their professional and credible work integrated learnership. The TARDI Work Integrated Learnership (WIL) program is a structured educational approach that blends academic learning with hands-on work experience, allowing students to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world settings. The TARDI WIL (Work Integrated Learnership) Eligibility Criteria are as follows:
1. General Qualifications
- Be a South African citizen between the ages of 18 and 34
- Hold a minimum NQF Level 5 qualification (at least a Diploma) in a relevant field
- Reside in the Eastern Cape for preference consideration
- Be a learner from an Agricultural College or TVET College in need of practical experience
- Meet NQF compliance requirements, including:
- Complete 30% theory and 70% practical training
- Be enrolled in a qualification that mandates 18 months of Work Integrated Learning (WIL) before graduation
- Possess a post-qualification that requires 18 months of WIL for industry preparedness.
