About the SAWS (South African Weather Service) Weather Observation Learnership 2026
The SAWS (South African Weather Service) is searching for candidates who wants theoretical and practical skills in Weather Observation via their learnership. The South African Weather Service (SAWS) invites applications from individuals who hold a Grade 12 (Matric) certificate to participate in the SAWS Weather Observation Learnership Program. This comprehensive 12-month training program will be conducted at the SAWS Regional Training Centre in Pretoria, where learners will receive practical and theoretical instruction covering all aspects of weather observation.

Upon successful completion of the program, learners may be considered for appointment at various regional SAWS offices across the country. Since these positions may involve shift work, a valid driver’s license will be required. Learners are therefore expected to obtain a driver’s license during the training period, at their own expense.

In addition to meeting the academic and training requirements, candidates with strong interpersonal skills and proficiency in computer literacy will be regarded as having an advantage during the selection process.
