About the SASAS (South African Society for Animal Science)
The South African Society for Animal Science (SASAS) was once known as the South African Society of Animal Production before becoming the South African Society for Animal Science (SASAP). The Society was officially established on April 28, 1961. The objective of the institution is to develop animal research and promote sustainable animal production systems while also preserving natural resources and the environment, and to do so in the interests of human welfare.

Animal agriculture and animal products are the focus of the SASAS’s efforts to guarantee that high levels of education, research, technology, and science-based public policy are maintained. Additionally, they are interested in acting as a spokesperson on all issues connected to animal production and animal products that are in the public’s best interests and in accordance with popular interests.

About the SASAS (South African Society for Animal Science) Bursary 2022
The SASAS (South African Society for Animal Science) is offering financial aid for postgraduate students who are pursuing Animal Science or Animal Production. The SASAS (South African Society for Animal Science) Bursary is an all-inclusive programme that welcomes people of all different backgrounds, especially individuals who are planning to pursue either an Honours or Masters qualification.

As an awardee, you will be provided with the necessary support to chase after your academic qualification. If you display exemplary academic scores and valuable qualities as a student, you are more than encouraged to give this opportunity a shot. Financial assistance will be paid in 2 installments provided that their membership to the SASAS is still available.

Eligibility Criteria

The SASAS (South African Society for Animal Science) Bursary Eligibility Criteria are as follows:

  • Has accomplished their BSc qualification in the field of Animal Science or Animal Production
  • Has officially graduated from a South African university
  • Become a registered member of the South African Society for Animal Science (SASAS) (if you haven’t registered, you can apply here)
  • Officially registered or planning to pursue your education towards a Honours or Masters education in the field of Animal Science/Animal Production
  • Displays an impressive academic track record
  • Can complete your Honours qualification within a duration of 2 years, and your Masters degree within a duration of 4 years.

In addition, you will need to provide the following documents:

  • A certified copy of your graduation certificate for all of the degrees that you have already obtained
  • A certified copy of an official statement of your complete subjects, including the symbols of the subjects you have finishes (both undergraduate and postgraduate as required).

All these documents should be included in your application dossier. Incomplete dossiers will automatically be disqualified from the programme.

Closing Date
Applications for the SASAS (South African Society for Animal Science) Bursary must be submitted before the closing date on 31 March 2022.
