The SAPS (South African Police Service) is offering a WIL (Workplace Integrated Learning) Internship for individuals who require practical work exposure. The SAPS (South African Police Service) WIL (Workplace Integrated Learning) Internship is a fantastic opportunity that is searching for unemployed graduates ready to fully commit to the 12-month duration of the programme in all provinces. This programme conducted as part of an initiative held by the National Human Resource Development Strategy and the National Skills Development Strategy.

As an intern, you will be required to study the following core competencies:

  • Crimes around the station’s precint
  • Causes of crimes within the station’s precint
  • Impacts and effects of crimes within the area
  • Data analysis to determine the cause of crimes through prediction, detection, and prevention.

Interns of the SAPS (South African Police Service) WIL (Workplace Integrated Learning) Internship will be eligible for a stipend. The amount of the stipend will be up to the Safety and Security Sector Education and Training Authority (SASSETA).

Eligibility Criteria
Candidates interested in the SAPS (South African Police Service) WIL (Workplace Integrated Learning) Internship must adhere to the programme’s eligibility criteria. Each of these items below will determine whether you have what it takes to become a well-rounded candidate fit for the internship. To guarantee a successful application, candidates must meet all of these following requirements. Failure to do so will result in disadvantageous consequences towards your registration. The SAPS (South African Police Service) WIL (Workplace Integrated Learning) Internship Eligibility Criteria are as follows:
1. Basic Requirements

  • Officially recognized as a citizen of South Africa
  • Currently between 18-35 years old
  • Possesses a National Senior Certificate or any equivalent qualification (NCV L4)
  • Does not have prior criminal track records or pending cases
  • Unemployed during the time of internship, has never been employed by the advertised post, or did not take part in an internship programme before this
  • Candidates must reside in the province of the advertised post
  • Candidates are only allowed to apply up to three (3) positions (please send in separate application forms with different post reference numbers)
  • People with Disabilities are encouraged to register
  • Graduate interns: possesses a tertiary qualification.

2. Additional Requirements

  • Possesses an NQF 6 qualification or above in these subjects:
    • Criminology 1, 2, and 3
    • Expert in the scientific study of crime and criminals
    • Advantageous: Data analysis course/modules

1. Application Form
The selection committee will only be accepting the official application form for the Workplace Integrated Learning (Internship).

Skim through the application queries before completing the document. Read through the instruction before filling in the application form with your correct personal details.

Indicate your post particulars and post reference number on your application form. This will help the selection committee easily identify your registration.

2. Supporting Documents
Candidates must provide the following documents to support your application forms:

  • Your most updated CV (Curriculum Vitae)
  • Legitimate proof of residence
  • Valid copies of your Identity Document
  • Valid copies of your Senior Certificate
  • Valid copies of your previous post school educational qualifications.

All copies should be certified and must not be older than 3 months. The selection committee will only accept certificate of qualifications, not a statement of results.

These documents must be included in your application dossier. Incomplete applications will not be considered by the selection committee.

3. Application Submission
By submitting your applications, you are hereby giving permission to have your personal information utilized by the selection committee for application purposes.

Applications will be subjected to further evaluation and vetting procedures to verify the validity of candidates. Anyone discovered to be falsifying any aspects of their applications will automatically be disqualified.

Submissions must be mailed to the addresses provided. Applications sent via other methods, such as email or fax, will not be accepted by the selection committee.




Important Notes

  • Shortlisted candidates will be required to do a fingerprint screening, security clearance, and personal interview
  • A stipend will be given to interns based on their proof of relevant qualification
  • Selected interns must sign a 12-month internship contract
  • Interns of this programme will not receive a guarantee of permanent employment.

Closing Date
Applications for the SAPS (South African Police Service) WIL (Workplace Integrated Learning) Internship must be submitted before the closing date on 30 September 2022.

The selection committee has absolute zero tolerance for late applications. Candidates found to be making their submissions past the deadline will not be considered for registration.

Announcements will only be made to shortlisted candidates. Should you not hear back from the selection committee within 2 months past the closing date, we regret to inform you that your application was unsuccessful.

The SAPS (South African Police Service) reserves the rights to make an appointment or not during the recruitment process. All decisions made by the selection committee are final.
