About the Sappi Apprenticeships 2021
Sappi is offering opportunities for individuals specializing in the Engineering department to participate in their eye-opening apprenticeship programmes. The Sappi Apprenticeships are a series of programmes that is looking for candidates who possess a high sense of motivation and can adapt to the dynamic changes of the industry’s line of work. Candidates do not have to possess prior working experience in order to participate in these apprenticeships. If you wish to attain the technical abilities to transform you into an Artisan, you are more than encouraged to give the programmes a shot.

The Sappi Apprenticeships are currently available for the following fields:

  • Fitting x1 (Reference No.: 33826)
  • Millwright x1 (Reference No.: 33827)
  • Boilermaking x1 (Reference No.: 33841)

Throughout the Sappi Apprenticeships, participants are required to fulfill a series of responsibilities in order to become a full-fledged Artisan:

  • Partake in all of the training sessions under the SETA approved training facility
  • Undergo workplace training directly at the Sappi Stranger Mill
  • Follow any extensive training sessions as per required by the apprenticeship
  • Prepare for the upcoming Trade test that will make you qualified as an artisan
  • Attain a proper allowance as per according to the remuneration policies upheld by Sappi.

Eligibility Criteria
The Sappi Apprenticeships is welcoming applications from different kinds of candidates. However, due to the nature of the apprenticeship, candidates must fulfill an eligibility criteria before proceeding with registrations. Each of these items below will determine whether you are qualified enough for the programme or not. Failure to meet all these items will cause disadvantageous consequences towards the overall results of your applications. Be sure to jot down the following requirements for personal reference.

The Sappi Apprenticeships Eligibility Criteria are as follows:

  • Possesses a Grade 12/ Matric Certificate
  • Holds at least an N2 Engineering Certificate (with 4 subjects that are relevant to the line of trade you are registering for)
  • Alternatively, holds an NCV Level 4 qualification that is relevant to the line of trade your are registering for
  • Displays knowledge and understanding in hand skills
  • Shows proven fluency in written and spoken English.

Candidates must create an account on the online application portal. This account is an integral part of your applications. It will store all of your personal details and necessary documents.

Once you already have your account made, be sure to keep it safe from anyone else. Never share your account credentials, especially your password, to other people. This is to prevent strangers from hacking into your account.

Only online applications made through the aforementioned portal will be considered. The selection committee will not be acknowledging any applications made through other external methods, such as email or fax.

Closing Date
Applications for the Sappi Apprenticeships must be submitted before the closing date on 03 January 2021.

The selection committee has absolute zero tolerance for late applications. Candidates discovered to be making their submissions past the deadline will not be considered for registration.

Since applications take place online, candidates are advised to process their registration as soon as possible. This helps to prevent any unwanted incidents that could take place during last-minute applications (e.g. sudden heavy Internet traffic).

Announcements will only be made to shortlisted candidates. Should you not hear back from the selection committee within 14 days past the application deadline, we regret to inform you that you have not been selected for the programme.
