The South African National Roads Agency Limited, or more commonly referred to as SANRAL, is a national establishment that works to provide better, and safer transportation networks in the country. Under the supervision of the Minister of Transport, SANRAL acknowledges that the quality of roads greatly affects the livelihoods and socio-economic development for their citizens.

Roads play a crucial role in economic growth, as it brings people to their jobs and resources to industries. Without a proper road system, everything remains stagnant and South Africa’s human capital will not flourish. With this in mind, SANRAL works tirelessly to provide a supportive transporation environment for fellow South Africans.

About the SANRAL Bursary Programmes 2024
SANRAL is giving out several Bursary Programmes for South African individuals who would like to receive funds to continue their studies. The SANRAL Bursary is mainly offered for students who are pursuing, but not limited to, any one of these fields below:

  • Civil Engineering
  • Supply Chain Management
  • Human Resources.

This bursary programme is exclusively offered towards undergraduate and postgraduate students. Additionally, potential candidates must display an average score of 70% for Matriculants & 60% for student at university in their most recent examinations. Please also be advised that opportunities will be provided on a fair basis, as per the company’s Employment Equity Policy.

Bursary Induction
Upon acceptance into the SANRAL Bursary Programmes 2024, awardees are asked to participate in the programe’s annual induction. This is a wonderful opportunity for awardees to get to know the business of SANRAL on a deeper level. Awardees are all grouped up together to get to know each other, and create long-lasting relationships that will go further beyond this bursary programme.

Vacation Work
Besides the financial assistance that awardees will receive, you must also allocate their time into obligatory vacation work. Bursars will be responsible over several projects with available placements. This is a great chance in registering for on-the-job training, which will provide you with new knowledge and practical working skills.

Eligibility Criteria
Candidates interested in the SANRAL Bursary Programmes 2024 must fulfill all of the criteria asked by the committee. Each of these requirements will determine whether you are qualified enough for the bursary scheme or not. Failure to meet all of them might reduce your chances of success with registration. Be sure to take not of all of the requirements below.

The SANRAL Bursary Programmes 2024 Eligibility Criteria are as follows:

  • Officially recognized as a citizen of South Africa for studies
  • Pursuing their educational qualifications in one of the aforementioned study courses
  • Fulfill the academic standards of the bursary
  • Does not exceed 35 years old
  • Registered for a full-time study
  • Must not be participating in another bursary programme
  • Candidates who have disabilities are highly encouraged to register
  • The candidate’s financial background will also determine their acceptance rate.

Application Instructions

Candidates interested in the programme must fill in all of the queries on the application form. The information provided should be accurate and correct. If the committee discovers that you are falsifying any parts of your form, you will be disqualified from registration.

Besides the application form, candidates must send in these supporting documents as well:

  • A valid copy of your South African Identity Document
  • Valid copies of your latest academic track record
  • A confirmation of your registration
  • Letters of motivation written by the candidates and also their parents/guardians
  • The candidate’s parents’ or guardians’ valid copy of Identity Document
  • The candidate’s parents’ or guardians’ proof of household income
  • Your most recent Curriculum Vitae.

All these documents are to be attached to the application form. Any incomplete application dossiers will not be tolerated by the selection committee.

Hard copy/emailed applications will be not accepted.

Closing Date
Applications for the SANRAL Bursary Programmes 2024 must be submitted before the closing date on 30 September 2023.

The selection committee has a zero tolerance policy for late applications. Failure to send in your applications before the application deadline will get your registration automatically revoked.

Bursary Announcement
The SANRAL Bursary Programmes 2024 committee will only reach out to only shortlisted candidates. Should you not hear back from the committee by 30 January 2024 (the following year), we regret to inform you that you have not been selected for the bursary scheme.

Notice for Shortlisted Candidates
All shortlisted candidates of the SANRAL Bursary Programmes 2024 will need to participate in a interview with the committee. This is where the committee will verify all of your application credentials, qualifications, and statements that you have provided. This is why it is important to ensure that all information that you have given is factual. Only afterwards will decide whether the shortlisted candidates is truly qualified enough for the bursary scheme.

Candidates who are successful with their applications and interview will be provided with an award letter. Furthermore, before receiving the bursary scheme, both the candidates and their respective parents/guardians must sign the bursary agreement. Once everything is signed, the awardee will receive the bursary payments and the awardee can continue on with their studies.
