About the SAA (South African Airways) Technical Apprenticeship / Learnership 2026
SAA (South African Airways) Technical is currently searching for applicants who would like practical work exposure through their apprenticeship/learnership. The SAA (South African Airways) Technical Apprenticeship / Learnership Programme invites young, motivated South African citizens to apply for the 2026 intake. This programme is designed for individuals who demonstrate a strong interest in pursuing a career in aircraft maintenance and related technical disciplines within the aviation industry.

Selected candidates will participate in a structured learning programme that combines formal theoretical instruction with hands-on practical training in one of SAAT’s accredited aviation trades. Through this comprehensive approach, the programme seeks to develop competent and highly skilled artisans who are equipped to meet both industry expectations and regulatory requirements.

You will be required to perform the duties below:

  • Weld and repair aircraft and engine components, perform plasma spraying and heat treatment, and manufacture parts and tooling
  • Prevent corrosion, restore damaged paint coatings, apply protective finishes, and paint aircraft interiors and exteriors
  • Manufacture, repair, inspect, and maintain aircraft interior components and survival equipment
  • Manufacture, repair, inspect, and maintain aircraft composite components.
