Right to Care is a non-profit organization in South Africa that strives to create a world where public healthcare is accessible. The formation of this organization was sparked by the HIV and AIDS emergency that occurred in 2001. Since then, Right to Care has made it their main mission to provide accessible and affordable treatment to South African patients originating from underprivileged communities.
After 20 years, Right to Care has expanded their mission and have provided services towards patients with STDs, tuberculosis, Hepatitis C, and more. Members of the organization are equipped with years of healthcare experience. By administering the correct technical assistance, and introducing awareness programmes, Right to Care is on its path to making healthcare available for all people within the sub-Saharan Africa region.
About the Right to Care Pharmacist Assistant (NQF Level 4) Learnership 2021-2022
Right to Care is offering South African individuals with the opportunity to participate in their one-of-a-kind Pharmacist Assistant Learnership programme. The Right to Care Pharmacist Assistant (NQF Level 4) Learnership is a fantastic chance of local youths to acquire a solid foundation in the healthcare field. The programme is a collaboration between Right to Care themselves with the Health and Welfare Sector Education Authority, an institution that issues qualifications for high-performing indivdiuals. Unemployed citizens can attain an accredited qualification as a legitimate Pharmacist Assistant by registering for this learnership.
Participants of the Right to Care Pharmacist Assistant (NQF Level 4) Learnership will commence for a total duration of 12 months. You will be asked to participated in a series of theoretical assessments which will give you a general understanding of the occupation. This is then followed by practical working sessions supervised by professional training providers. Participants will be given a monthly allowance to support their learning journey. However, please be kindly advised that learners must attend all formal training sessions using their own modes of transporation. If you choose to use public transporation, all expenses are under your responsibility.
As a learner, you will need to take note of these programme components below:
- Learners must follow all training interventions and pass their competency assessments with flying colors
- Learners are required to finish their practical training held in a workplace environment (pharmacy) under the guidance of an expert
- Learners will need to compile and submit a portfolio of evidence at the end of the programme to showcase their progress.
Successful learners will be entitled to an NQF Level 4 Qualification as a Pharmacist Assistant. This qualification will transform you in an attractive working asset in the eyes of your future employers.
Eligibility Criteria
Interested candidates of the Right to Care Pharmacist Assistant (NQF Level 4) Learnership must fulfill a set of eligibility criteria before beginning their applications. Each of these items are used by the selection committee to evaluate their candidates on a fair basis. Failure to meet everything will put you in a risky position during the registration process. Be sure to tick off everything in this list below.
The Right to Care Pharmacist Assistant (NQF Level 4) Learnership Eligibility Criteria are as follows:
- Officially recognized as a citizen of South Africa (provides valid Identity
- Document)
- Between 18-35 years old during the time of learnership
- Not employed by a company
- Not taking part in another learnership programme
- Residing in the area of Gauteng
- Has the transporation means to get to the training center and workplace
- Possess a Grade 12/Matric qualification
- Has pursued in Maths or Maths Literacy
- Alternatively, if you did not pursue Maths, you will need to take an aptitude test and have a 50% passing score
- Has a National Certificate: Pharmacists Assistant (NQF Level 3) prior to this learnership
- Registered as a Basic Pharmacist Assistant with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC).

Closing Date
Applications for the Right to Care Pharmacist Assistant (NQF Level 4) Learnership must be submitted before the closing date on 25 November 2020.
The selection committee has absolute zero tolerance with late applications. Candidates discovered to be sending in their applications past the closing date will automatically be disregarded. Be sure to send in your applications on time to guarantee a registration spot.
