Eligibility Criteria
Candidates interested in the RBIDZ (Richards Bay Industrial Development Zone) Bursaries must fulfill an eligibility criteria before proceeding with their applications. The RBIDZ (Richards Bay Industrial Development Zone) Bursaries Eligibility Criteria are as follows:

  • Officially recognized as a citizen of South Africa
  • Pursuing full-time studies in listed fields at recognized South African Universities
  • Currently residing within the areas of King Cetshwayo District, KwaZulu-Natal
  • Accepted into a full-time study programme in either one of the fields mentioned above
  • Passed their Grade 12 qualification with Level 5 scores for English, Life Science, Economics, Mathematics, and Accounting
  • Originating from a previously disadvantaged background.

Important Note: candidates will be selected based on their academic skills and their need for immediate financial assistance. Besides the initial application process, candidates must undergo through an interview process before getting chosen for the bursary.

Candidates must first download the RBIDZ Bursary Application Form.

Once you have downloaded the application form, make sure to read the instructions and skim through the queries. Be sure to provide answers that correctly represent your current conditions.

Additionally, candidate must prepare the following items:

  • Your Matric, Grade 12 Certificate
  • A letter of acceptance issued by your University of Technology/any relevant University
    3 months’ salary/wage slips of the person responsible in the household, or an affidavit confirming unemployment, or a SASSA grant income belonging to the person responsible in the household
  • Character reference issues by your teacher or community leader (must be in the form of a letter)
  • A letter of motivation explaining why you wish to study at your chosen University, what you’re planning to study, and what career prospects you’re looking at
  • A certified copy of your South African Identity Document
  • Legitimate proof of residence.

All of these documents must be included in your application dossier. Incomplete dossiers will not be considered by the selection committee.

By sending in your applications, you are hereby giving permission to the selection committee to have your personal information utilized for registration purposes.

Applications will be subjected to further evaluation and vetting procedures to verify the validity of candidates. Anyone discovered to be falsifying any aspects of their applications will be disqualified from the registration period.

Candidates must process their applications through the portal provided above. Submissions made through other methods, such as email or fax, will not be accepted by the selection committee.

Closing Date
Applications for the RBIDZ (Richards Bay Industrial Development Zone) Bursaries must be submitted before the closing date on 31 January 2024.

The selection committee has absolute zero tolerance for late applications. Submissions made past the closing date will not be acknowledged during the registration period.
