Prince Albert Municipality Firefighter Learnership 2025: Receive Knowledge While Earning R155 086.20 to R201 319.92 per Annum

About the Prince Albert Municipality
Prince Albert Local Municipality, nestled at the southern edge of the Great Karoo beneath the Swartberg Mountains, covers an expansive area of approximately 8,153 km². This small Category B municipality comprises the towns and environs of Prince Albert, Klaarstroom, Leeu Gamka, and Prince Albert Road. With a steadily growing population of around 17,800 residents (2022), it is among the smallest in the Western Cape in terms of population density. Agriculture and tourism serve as its main economic pillars—local farmers produce olives, figs, grapes, and mohair, while the region’s scenic beauty, heritage architecture, and arts festivals draw domestic and international visitors.
Despite its charm and prosperity in certain sectors, the municipality contends with elevated unemployment and periodic droughts, which drive ongoing initiatives to improve water infrastructure, service delivery, and economic diversification. Governance in Prince Albert is administered by a seven-member council elected through a mixed-member proportional representation system, divided into four wards. Since September 2022, the Democratic Alliance (DA) holds a majority, with Linda Kathryn Jaquet serving as executive mayor following by-elections that secured the DA’s control
