The Pragma Software Engineer YES Programme provides an opportunity for young, unemployed South Africans to participate in the Youth Employment Service (YES) Programme. As part of a national public-private partnership focused on addressing youth unemployment, the programme offers successful applicants 12 months of practical workplace experience, enabling them to develop industry-relevant skills and enhance their long-term employability within a leading industrial and asset management organisation.

YES Programme Duties

• Develop well-designed, scalable, and maintainable software solutions that meet business and technical requirements, ensuring deliverables satisfy the expectations and approval of the Product Owner
• Produce high-quality, reliable, and thoroughly tested software that complies with established coding standards and quality assurance requirements, subject to the approval of the QA Manager
• Participate actively in all Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives, while collaborating effectively with cross-functional team members to achieve project objectives
• Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve product incidents and technical issues promptly, ensuring minimal disruption to users and contributing to the ongoing stability and performance of the software
• Continuously expand technical knowledge by learning emerging technologies, development frameworks, tools, and industry best practices to support innovation and ongoing professional growth
• Provide guidance, mentorship, and coaching to fellow team members by sharing technical expertise, promoting best practices, and fostering a collaborative and supportive development environment.
