Apprenticeship Responsibilities
Below are some of the responsibilities that participants will need to take upon during the Nova Pioneer Apprenticeship (Teacher):

  • Provide assistance and support to resident teachers in delivering engaging, enquiry-based lessons that incorporate technology to enhance instructional effectiveness
  • Foster enthusiasm and a love for learning within the classroom, encouraging students to feel motivated and committed to achieving academic excellence
  • Support the establishment and communication of high, ambitious expectations for all students, and provide constructive feedback to help students internalise their learning goals
  • Collaborate closely with resident teachers to continuously assess student progress, using assessment data to refine instructional content and adapt teaching strategies as needed
  • Attend weekly feedback and review meetings with resident teachers and Deans to support the ongoing improvement of teaching practices
  • Actively engage in professional development opportunities, including daily team meetings and reflections, weekly training sessions, instructional coaching, and organisation-wide learning activities
  • Maintain regular communication with parents through email, phone calls, and parent–teacher conferences to support student development
  • Contribute to and participate in at least one co-curricular activity each term to support holistic student engagement
  • Take part in various collaborative teams and committees, and fulfil assigned supervision responsibilities, including participation in morning, evening, and weekend events

Eligibility Criteria

  • Remain unqualified as a teacher at the start of 2026
  • Specialise in the Foundation Phase
  • Maintain provisional registration with the South African Council for Educators (SACE)
  • Demonstrate teaching experience or curriculum knowledge in English and Mathematics, with familiarity in Singapore Maths and THRASS (English) considered advantageous but not mandatory
  • Show experience or an understanding of Cambridge curriculum objectives, which would be regarded as an added advantage
