The Northern Cape province aims to serve the people of the Northern Cape by developing developmental institutions for effective lawmaking, public involvement, accountability, and supervision over the executive and municipalities.

The strategic goals of the Legislature are to strengthen institutional capacity to support members and committees in their efforts to fulfill the constitutional mandate of the Legislature; ensure that the Legislature carries out its constitutional mandate in the most effective manner possible; and deepen and entrench a democracy that is centered on the people in the Northern Cape.

About the Northern Cape Government Bursaries 2023
The Northern Cape Government is looking for unemployed South African students who are keen on obtaining immediate financial assistance to fund their studies. Bursaries offered by the Northern Cape Government are open to applicants from any and all walks of life due to the program’s commitment to diversity.

If you are selected as a recipient of the prize, you will receive the assistance you require to pursue the academic qualification you seek. You are strongly encouraged to take advantage of this chance if you have achieved outstanding success in your academic pursuits and have demonstrated other admirable characteristics as a student.

The bursaries are offered to students pursuing the study fields below:

  • Natural and Agricultural Sciences
  • Tourism and Hospitality Management
  • Electrical Diagrams/Schematics
  • Hydrogen Fuel Technician
  • Hydrogen Vehicle Electrician
  • Solar Installation Technician
  • Project Management
  • Health Sciences
  • Nature Conservation (Field Rangers)
  • Engineering
  • Bachelors Education – Intermediate: Mathematics, Science and Accounting
  • Hydrogen Fuel Transporter
  • Wind Turbine Technician
  • Bachelors Education – FET: Afrikaans, Xhosa and Setswana
  • Hydrogen Production Engineers
  • Landfill Gas Collection Technician
  • Orthotics Assistant
  • Solar Installation
  • Digital Marketing
  • Health and Safety
  • Mining Minerals and Energy
  • Environmental Quality Management
  • Prosthetics and Orthotics.

Recipients of the Northern Cape Government Bursaries wil be entitled to coverage for student-related expenses, such as registration costs, tuition expenses, books, and accommodation costs. The coverage is offered based on the applicants’ household income.

  • Total household income of R0 to R350 000/annum: bursary max. value of R100 000
  • Total household income of R350 001 to R550 000/annum: bursary max. value of R80 000
  • Total household income of R550 001 to R750 000/annum: bursary max. value of R60 000
  • Total household income of more than R750 001/annum: bursary max. value of R50 000.

Eligibility Criteria
First and foremost, you must familiarize yourself with the Northern Cape Government Bursaries’ eligibility standards. Each of these criteria will influence whether or not you would be an excellent candidate. Ideally, if you want to enhance your chances of success, you should be able to meet all of the requirements on the following list.

The Northern Cape Government Bursaries Eligibility Criteria are as follows:

  • Officially recognized as a citizen of South Africa
  • Currently living within the province of Northern Cape
  • Currently between 18-35 years old
  • Pursuing your Matric at the moment or have already finished your Matric qualification
  • Currently studying or planning to pursue an undergraduate/first degree qualification in either one of the aforemention study fields in an accredited higher education institution in South Africa
  • Unemployed during the bursaries
  • Obtained at least an average aggregate score of 60% for your latest studies
  • Preference is offered to candidates who are proven to require immediate financial assistance and has a strong academic track record.

Please fill out the application site with your most relevant responses by writing them into the appropriate areas. All of the personal information you submit should be accurate and correspond to your actual circumstances.

Additionally, candidates will need to provide the documents below:

  • A certified copy of Identity document and related information
  • Certified proof of latest results
  • Certified full academic record
  • Legitimate proof of registration & tax invoice/quotation from the institution and related information
  • Certified ID documents; proof of income of both parents/guardians and related
    information.

All these documents should be included in your application dossier. Incomplete dossiers will automatically be disqualified from the registration process. Additionally, certified copies must not exeed more than 6 months.

Alternatively, you can send your email application using your handphone, since it is much more practical than applying via computer. If you are using an OS Android handphone, you can use your Gmail app to send the emails and any CVs/files that needs to be attached.

You will be a part of the evaluation process alongside the other members of the selection committee, and the information that you provide will be held in strict confidence. As a consequence of this, you need to do an exhaustive check to ensure that it does not contain any fictitious information. Candidates run the risk of being placed in a scenario that could endanger their lives if there is evidence that they are supplying information that is not accurate.

The information that you supply will be utilized by the selection committee in order to register you for the event. You are granting the committee permission to use your personal information for this purpose by submitting your application.

It is mandatory for potential applicants to send in their applications using one of the aforementioned channels. The committee that is responsible for examining the application will not accept any materials that have been submitted through any other method.

Closing Date
Applications for the Northern Cape Government Bursaries must be submitted before the closing date on 18 November 2022.

Please ensure that your applications are sent as quickly as possible. You can improve your chances of securing a position during the registration period by submitting your information early. In addition, it eliminates any unwelcome surprises at the last minute, such as sudden surges of Internet traffic or the loss of important data.

Applications for the program have to be turned in before the deadline in order to be considered. The selection committee will not accept any applications that are submitted beyond the deadline, and the program will not consider any submissions of this nature for consideration.

Only those candidates who have been selected for further consideration will receive announcements. We regret to inform you that you have not been chosen to receive the scholarship. If the selection committee does not get back to you within six weeks of the application deadline, we will assume that you were not chosen for the bursary.

The Government of the Northern Cape maintains all rights, including the ability to select whomever they deem fit while the recruitment process is ongoing. In every instance, the judgments that the selection committee reaches are final and cannot be reversed.
