About North West
The North West Province of South Africa is an area with its province shared with the northern border is shared with Botswana, its southern border with the provinces of Free State and Northern Cape, and its northeast and eastern borders are shared with the provinces of Limpopo and Gauteng. The North West Province is located in the northwestern part of South Africa.

The mining industry is the backbone of the North West Province’s economy, accounting for more than half of the province’s gross domestic product and providing employment for a quarter of the province’s people. In the North West, mining provides 23,3 percent to the economy, and it accounts for 22,5 percent of the country’s total mining sector. The eastern and southern areas of the country are crop-growing regions, with maize (corn), sunflowers, cotton, and citrus fruits among the crops grown. Stellaland, near Vryburg, is home to some of the world’s biggest cow herds.

About the North West Government Bursaries 2023
North West is offering financial assistance for bright-minded South African students who are pursuing various qualifications on a tertiary university level. The North West Government Bursaries program is an all-inclusive program that invites students from a wide range of varied backgrounds and educational aspirations. As an awardee, you will get all of the assistance you need to complete your academic degree or certificate program successfully. If you have consistently achieved high academic results while also demonstrating excellent traits as a student, you are strongly urged to apply for this position.

The North West Government Bursaries Eligibility Criteria are as follows:

  • Officially recognised as a citizen of South Africa
  • Currently living within the North West Province
  • Has finished their Matric qualification
  • Currently pursuing or planning to pursue a full-time education in either one of the aforementioned qualifications
  • Currently pursuing or planning to pursue a full-time education at a recognised South African tertiary institution
  • Proven to require immediate financial assistance
  • Displays an impressive academic track record.

Application Instructions

Please fill out the application form with your most relevant answers by entering them into the proper spaces once you have downloaded it. All of the personal information you provide should be accurate and relevant to your current situation.

Additionally, you will need to provide the following documents:

  • A certified copy of your Identity Document
  • Your Matric final results slip/certificate
  • A certified copy of your most updated results/academic results
  • A certified copy of your legitimate proof of university acceptance letter
  • Proof of income from your parents or guardians (most recent payslips if employed/affidavit if unemployed/death certificate if deceased etc.)
  • Legitimate proof of residence (e.g. letter of Municipality Offices, letter from Traditional Authority Offices)
  • Legitimate proof of disability (e.g. letter from doctor) (applicable if disabled).

Note: if you do not have your university acceptance/final year-end results yet, you can send them in at a later stage.

All these documents should be included in your application dossier. Incomplete dossiers will automatically be disqualified from the programme.

Once your application form and documents are ready, please upload them direction on the Official Application Portal.

The information you provide will be examined by the whole selection committee, which includes you. As a consequence, you should double-check to verify that no bogus information is there. If there is any proof that candidates are providing fraudulent information, they may be put in a risky situation.

By submitting your applications, you allow the selection committee permission to use your personal information to register you for the event.

Closing Date
Applications for the North West Government Bursaries must be submitted before the closing date on 30 November 2022.

By enrolling as quickly as possible, you can ensure that your application is secured as soon as possible. However, this does not guarantee instant success and is just intended to provide you with a secure position throughout the recruiting process.

Candidates that submit their applications after the deadline will not be considered by the selection committee. All entries received past the closing date will be immediately rejected, regardless of their content.

North West Government has the right to offer or deny employment to anybody at its discretion. The selecting committee’s judgments are final and binding on all parties involved.
