About the MultiChoice Bursaries 2025
MultiChoice is offering bursary schemes to a hand select number of pupils who display impressive academic abilities and respectable personal qualities. The MultiChoice Bursaries is one of the many efforts taken by the company to uplift members of their local societies. By investing greatly into younger generations of learners, MultiChoice hopes that students will be even more motivated to pursue their tertiary degrees or qualifications. Additionally, the company expects that all of their awardees to grow into capable individuals who are willing to make positive contributions to their own communities in the future.

The MultiChoice Bursaries is only available for students who are pursuing their first-time undergraduate degree, or postgraduate degree (e.g. Honours and Masters). Candidates are required to be enrolled in an accredited Higher Learning Institution in South Africa. Candidates will be assessed based on their need for urgent financial assistance as well as their academic track record. Candidates who currently have records of historical debt are not allowed to join the programme.

Bursaries are available for undergraduate and postgraduate studies (up to NQF level 9) in the following fields:

  • Film and Television Marketing
  • Information Engineering
  • Sound Engineering
  • Information Technology (AI & Robotics)
  • Filmmaking
  • Data and Information Science
  • Electronic Engineering
  • Finance
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Actuarial Science
  • Accounting
  • STEM fields (covering Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics)
  • Digital Media Technology

Eligibility Criteria
Candidates of the MultiChoice Bursaries must first fulfill the programmes’ eligibility criteria. Each of these items will be used by the selection committee to assess incoming candidates fairly. To guarantee an impressive application, candidates are recommended to meet all of these items below. Failure to do so will result in instant disqualification from the registration period. Be sure to jot down all of these criteria for personal reference in the future.

The MultiChoice Bursaries Eligibility Criteria are as follows:

  • Confirm your South African citizenship
  • Ensure you are in Matric in 2024 or have already completed it
  • Commit to studying or planning to study full-time towards a degree in one of the designated critical and scarce skill fields
  • Apply as a first-time undergraduate or postgraduate student (up to NQF level 9)
  • Achieve a minimum average of 75% in Matric or 65% as a current university student
  • Register or plan to register at a recognized higher learning institution in South Africa
  • Demonstrate both academic excellence and financial need, as outlined in MultiChoice’s external bursary policy.

Application Instructions
Applications must be submitted online at: MultiChoice Bursaries 2025.

Prepare and submit clear, certified copies of the following documents as part of your online application:

  • Identification Document: Provide a certified copy of your South African ID
  • Matric Certificate or Results: Include a certified copy of your Matric certificate or statement of results
  • Most Recent Academic Results: Submit your latest academic results if you are currently studying, ensuring they are on your institution’s official letterhead
  • Proof of Acceptance: Attach proof of acceptance or provisional acceptance from an accredited tertiary institution, provided on official letterhead
  • Parent or Guardian’s Income Proof: Supply evidence of your parents’ or guardians’ income, such as recent payslips (if employed), an affidavit (if unemployed), or proof of a SASSA grant or pension (if applicable).

You have the option to save your application progress at any point and continue working on it later. However, it is crucial to finalize and submit your application before the specified deadline to ensure it is considered.

If you are a previous recipient of a MultiChoice bursary, take the time to log into the application portal and thoroughly review the information you have provided. Carefully verify the accuracy of all details, and if any of your information has changed, promptly update and correct it to reflect your current circumstances.

Closing Date
Applications for the MultiChoice Bursaries must be submitted before the closing date on 29 January 2025.

The selection committee has absolute zero tolerance for late submissions. Candidates discovered to be sending in their applications past the deadline will not be acknowledged.

Announcements will only be made to candidates who have been shortlisted for the MultiChoice Bursaries.

MultiChoice reserves all rights to make an appointment or not during the registration period. All decisions made by the selection committee are final.
