The operation is currently situated between the areas of Mpumalanga and Limpopo, encompassing a massive 14 278 hectares of land. The mining site has had years of experience acquiring metals and minerals since its establishment in the 1920s. With decades of experience and expertise under their belt, the underground mine has dedicated themselves to their trade with full professionalism.

The site is also home to several smelter and refining facilities which are important to the operation’s various productions. Modikwa Platinum Mine is offering learnership programmes for young individuals who wish to develop a working foundation in the Engineering and Mining fields. The Modikwa Platinum Mine Learnerships is a great opportunity for future learners to develop a strong understanding of this particular line of work. Selected learners of the Modikwa Platinum Mine Learnerships will be requested to attend a structured curriculum combining theoretical assessments and practical working sessions. The Modikwa Platinum Mine Learnerships Eligibility Criteria are as follows:
- Successfully finished their Grade 12 qualification in Maths (not Mathematics Literacy) and Science
- Owns at least an N2 qualification with 4-5 subjects according to the Discipline
- Requirements for the Engineering Learnership
- Possesses an NCV Level – 4 qualification with an average aggregate score of 40% for all subjects
- Officially recognized as a legitimate citizen of South Africa
- Physically and medically healthy for the working conditions
- Clear from any criminal track records
- Prepared to undertake a Medical Fitness examination
- Willing to work under rigorous underground/surface conditions filled with dust
- Be responsible for their own accommodation and transportation costs.
Note: preference is offered to candidates originating from designated groups that meet the company’s Employment Equity Plan and their implemented targets. These include employees and residents of Modikwa’s host communities.
