About the MISA (Municipal Infrastructure Support Agent)
The Municipal Infrastructure Support Agent, or commonly referred to as MISA, is a governmental establishment that is responsible for providing technical support to municipalities. MISA is currently under the jurisdictions of Section 7(5)(c) of the Public Service Act, 1944 (as amended) and is under the direct supervision of the Department of Cooperative Governance (DCoG). The establishment ensures that they employ enough engineers, town planners, and technicians to greatly contribute to their nation’s municipal infrastructure. Aiming for sustainability and excellence, MISA is a key player to South Africa’s development.

The Municipal Infrastructure Support Agent is offering an Experiential Learnership for South African students who require practical work experience. The MISA (Municipal Infrastructure Support Agent) Experiential Learnership is an opportunity designed to provide students pursuing in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering & Town, or Regional Planning with credible working experience directly under a company setting. Over the duration of 12-24 months, interns will be guided by professional training providers as they explore the company’s line of work.

Eligibility Criteria

The MISA (Municipal Infrastructure Support Agent) Experiential Learnership Eligibility Criteria are as follows:
1. Basic Requirements

  • Officially recognized as citizens of South Africa
  • Unemployed during the time of the internship
  • Fully commit themselves to the workplace programme for 12-24 months
  • Students enrolled in University, University of Technology, or TVET Colleges
  • Requires practical learning experience to attain their qualification
  • Pursues either one of these following qualifications:
    • Electrical Engineering
    • Civil Engineering
    • Town & Regional Planning.

2. Necessary Documents

  • Release letter issued by the tertiary institution that allows you to attain work exposure/work integrated learning
  • Students who have finished their courses but still require work experience: a completed qualification
    • Your most updated Curriculum Vitae
    • Valid copies of available qualification
    • A valid copy of your Identity Document
    • Legitimate proof of your residence.

Closing Date

The selection committee has zero tolerance for candidates sending in late applications. Candidates found to be making their submissions past the registration deadline will automatically be disqualified from the programme.
