About the Mintek Bursaries 2022
Mintek is providing financial assistance to bright-minded South African students who are pursuing full-time education at a university level in the country. The Mintek Bursaries program is an all-inclusive program that accepts applicants from a variety of diverse backgrounds.

As an awardee, you will get all of the assistance you need to complete your academic degree or certificate program successfully. If you have consistently achieved high academic results while also demonstrating important characteristics as a student, you are strongly urged to apply for this position.

Applicants of the Mintek Bursaries must be pursuing an undergraduate degree, honors degree, or B.Tech diplomas in either one of the study courses below:

  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering (Process Control Systems or Electronics)
  • Chemical Engineering (Minerals Processing option)
  • Physics
  • Physical Metallurgy / Materials Science
  • Geology (majoring in Mineralogy, Petrology, Applied Geology or Economic Geology)
  • Mathematics
  • Mining Engineering
  • Chemistry (Analytical or Geochemistry)

Awardees of the Mintek Bursaries will be entitled to financial aid that covers a couple of items, including full payment of your registration costs, tuition expenses, accommodation fees, and daily meals, with an additional R15 000 p.a. allowance.

In return, awardees will be required to participate in a year-for-year work service obligation within Mintek upon successful graduation. In addition, awardees must also take part in vacation work at the end of each of the academic year until their 3rd year of studies.

Eligibility Criteria
Candidates interested in the Mintek Bursaries must meet certain qualifying requirements before submitting their applications. Each of the things listed below will decide if you are qualified to continue with this learnership. Candidates should fulfill all of the following criteria to ensure a successful application. Failure to do so will have a negative impact on the overall outcome of your applications. Make a note of these things for future reference.

The following are the Mintek Bursaries Eligibility Criteria:

  • Officially recognised as a citizen of South Africa
  • Currently pursuing their education at University in one of the study courses mentioned above
  • Has obtained an average aggregate score of at least 60% without any failed courses
  • Fulfills the entry requirements required by their university and accepted at an accredited institution in South Africa
  • Must be pursuing a full-time education.

To ensure the legitimacy of applicants, applications will be submitted to further review and verification procedures. Anyone found to be misrepresenting any aspect of their applications would be barred from participating in the registration period.

Closing Date
Applications for the Mintek Bursaries must be submitted before the closing date on 31 July 2021.

The selection committee has a strict no-tolerance policy for late applicants. Submissions received after the deadline will not be recognized during the registration period.

Candidates should submit their applications as soon as feasible. This will give you enough time to fully assess the contents of your applications. Please prepare your applications as soon as possible.

Announcements will only be made to shortlisted candidates. Should you not hear back from the selection committee within 3 months past the closing date, we regret to inform you that you have not been chosen for the bursary.

Shortlisted candidates must prepare themselves for an interview with the selection committee.
