Mhlathuze Water (MW) is an entity formed in 1980 that is specializes in the country’s water treatment services. As a state-owned establishment, MW is under the direct supervision of the Department of Human Settlements, Water, and Sanitation. The company is currently located in the region of Province of KwaZulu-Natal. Despite being headquartered in Richards Bay, MW encompasses several regions in order to attain proper water resources. At the moment, MW received their water supplies from Lake Mzingazi, Lake Nsezi, and Mhlathuze River. Mhlathuze Water is offering learnerships for bright, dedicated South African who wish to develop a better understanding of the Water & Waster Water field. The Mhlathuze Water – Water & Waste Water Learnership is a fantastic opportunity to develop yourself as a future worker in the local water treatment industry. As a learner, you will be required to undergo through theoretical assessments touch on Water & Waster Water Treatment. This is then followed by practical sessions held under a real-time working environment. There will be professional training providers to keep track of your progress and let you know what you need to work on during the learnership.

The Mhlathuze Water – Water & Waste Water Learnership programme will be conducted for one year. At the moment, the programme is opening up position for five (5) extraordinary candidates. Future learners will need to prepare themselves for the programme’s tasks and duties, which includes following classes, compiling a solid Portfolio of Evidence, and directly applying their knowledge in the company’s water treatment plants.

Eligibility Criteria
Candidates interested in the Mhlathuze Water – Water & Waste Water Learnership will need to fulfill the programme’s eligibility criteria. The Mhlathuze Water – Water & Waste Water Learnership Eligibility Criteria are as follows:

  • Not employed by a company at the moment
  • Be up to 35 years old at the time of the programme
  • Has passed their Matric qualifications with flying colors
  • Attained at least a 50% score for Mathematics and Science
  • Candidates recognized as Colored, Female, Indian, African, and White are more than welcome to register
  • Preference will be offered to candidates residing within the areas of Zululand, uMkhanyakude, and King Cetshwayo
  • Important: candidates who have finished an NQF Level 5 qualification or above are not allowed to participate in this learnership.

Note: Mhlathuze Water holds all rights to provide a learnership or not – the selection process will be conducted as according to the policies in the company’s Employment Equity Plan.
