About the McCormick Research & Development Learnership 2023-2024
McCormick is conducting a 12-month Research & Development learnership programme for applicants interested in supporting the New Product Development Team. The McCormick Research & Development Learnership will require you to perform the following responsibilities:

• To provide samples for assessment and customer submissions, execute compounding operations to ensure seasonings are mixed according to the defined blending and sequencing technique
• To provide samples for assessment and customer submissions, apply the coating to the appropriate base product (snacks & coatings) in accordance with the customer brief/procedure
• Manage NPD samples for retention needs and make sure Base is available and is stored properly
• Work together with product development technologists to handle samples for shelf-life, sensory, and consumer research
• Keep an eye on the supplies of raw materials and consumables in the lab
• Make sure that stock levels are adequate and adhere to the designated shelf life
• Perform regular calibrations and scale checks on lab apparatus
• Manage the factory’s raw material replenishment according to established procedures
• Analyze and print SAP RD formulas for use in blending
• Make sure compositions are properly disposed of after combining and applying
• Attend scheduled company-wide meetings and occasionally serve as meeting chair
• When necessary, attend Supplier Presentations
• To guarantee that customer submissions are finished, assist the team with all courier actions (both domestically and internationally)
• Develop a thorough understanding of the sensory qualities of new products and raw materials by taking part in internal sensory evaluation activities
• To determine what changes are necessary, assist product development technologists in organizing internal reviews of recently developed goods
• Support the PPI function by doing local functional testing
• Assist the PPI function in organizing the shipment of samples to PepsiCo USA and the PPI team in Haddenham
• Help the PPI Team install seasoning in the manufacturing. This requires collaborating with PPI to plan actions in support of scale-up/first-time orders, confirming factory scale-up weights, ensuring the proper raw materials are utilized as specified in SAP RD and SAP formulations, and observing the proper blending sequence
• Under the direction of the QA Team, assist the R&D Team with chemical analysis (salt, moisture, pH, sieving)
• To support the whole business as necessary, it could be necessary to perform more broad activities sometimes.
