About the Mastercard Scholarships 2022
Mastercard is offering a scholarship programme for African students who are pursuing their full-time postgraduate education at the University of Pretoria. The Mastercard Scholarships are available for candidates who are originating from West, East, and Central Africa who are ready to embark on their Honours or Masters studies starting from January 2022.

The Mastercard Scholarships are readily available for candidates who are coming from economically-challenged young people but have aspirations of creating a change using their knowledge and talents. Candidates of the scholarship will need to prove their capabilities through community service and internships.

Recipients of the Mastercard Scholarships will receive coverage for the following items:

  • Full tuition expenses
  • Accommodation costs and daily meals (either in a UP residence/UP-accredited accommodation)
  • A generous monthly allowance
  • Prescribed study materials
  • Medical assistance that covers the entire duration of the studies
  • VISA fees
  • Travel expenses (including flight tickets) back and fro your home country
  • Opportunities to participate in leadership development sessions
  • Support for academic advising and counselling.

The Mastercard Scholarships Eligibility Criteria are as follows:

  • Must be enrolled and accepted into a degree at the University of Pretoria
  • Be able to prepare your student number to finish your MCFSP application form
  • Recognised as a full-time student at the university
  • Students who are unable to pay their full fees are allowed to apply
  • Selection will put an emphasis on the students’ academic achievements
  • Successful applicants will be required to go back to their homes upon successful completion of their qualification and create a positive contribution towards their local communities.

Important note: candidates who are still able to pay for their education with the helo of parents, guardians, or foster parents are NOT allowed to register.
