The KZN Dept of Economic Development, Tourism, and Environmental Affairs Aeronautical Bursary provides coverage for a list of student-related items. The bursary covers tuition expenses, residential costs, prescribed study materials, daily meals, and an allowance.

  • Originating from a disadvantaged background
  • Enrolled into the University of Pretoria or Wits University
  • Pursuing their studies in the Aeronautical Engineering field
  • Preference offered to students from rural areas.

Candidates interested in the bursary programme are required to prepare the following documents for submission:

  • A concise letter of motivation explaining why you deserve the bursary
  • A fully completed application form with the correct personal details
  • Legitimate proof of residence in KwaZulu-Natal (e.g. statement of rates, water, etc.)
  • Valid copy of your parents’/guardians’ Identity Card
  • Grade 11 end of year reports
  • Grade 12 reports
  • Official letters of acceptance issued by the University of Pretoria or Wits University
  • Valid proof of household income documentation received by parents or guardians (e.g. salary pay slips)
  • If your parents are unemployed: a statement issued by the Department of Labour or an affidavit.

Only applications submitted through postal carriage or hand delivery will be acknowledged by the selection committee. Submissions made through other methods such as e-mail or fax will be declined.

Closing Date
Applications for the KZN Dept of Economic Development, Tourism, and Environmental Affairs Aeronautical Bursary must be submitted before the closing date on 28 February 2021.

The selection committee has absolute zero tolerance towards late applications. Candidates discovered to be making their submissions past the deadline will not be acknowledged during the registration period.
