Recipients of the Kwazulu-Natal Government Bursary is only available for full-time students. The bursary provides coverage for these following expenses: tuition expenses, daily meals, allowances, accommodation costs, and prescribed study materials.

Eligibility Criteria
Interested candidates of the Kwazulu-Natal Government Bursary must fulfill the eligibility criteria in order to register for the programme. Each of these items below are crucial aspects that will determine whether you are qualified enough for the financial assistance or not. To have a successful application, it is advised that you meet all these requirements below. Failure to do so might put you in a risky position under the eyes of the selection committee.

The Kwazulu-Natal Government Bursary Eligibility Criteria are as follows:

  • Possesses a Grade 12 or Matric certificate
  • Between 18-35 years old during the time of the programme
  • A legitimate resident of KwaZulu-Natal Province
  • Preference will be given to students studying at institutions within KwaZulu-Natal province
  • Students with disabilities are encouraged to apply
  • Owns a provisional acceptance letter issued by their chosen public institution of higher learning
  • Must be pursuing any one of the aforementioned study courses.

  • A valid copy of your Matric qualification
    • Current students must prepare an accredited statement of results
  • Legitimate proof of income and expenditure statement issued by your parent or legal guardian
    • If your parents are unemployed, please provide a legitimate letter of unemployment issued by the Department of Labour
  • Valid letter of acceptance or registration issued by your chosen insitution of higher learning
  • Legitimate proof of residence in KwaZulu-Natal
  • Valid copies of profiling certificates (if available).

Closing Date
Applications for the Kwazulu-Natal Government Bursaries must be submitted before the closing date on 31 March 2023.

The selection committee has absolute zero tolerance for late submissions. Candidates discovered to be sending in their application past the deadline will automatically be disqualified from registrations. Be sure to register as soon as possible.

Important Notes

  • Students are responsible for seeking admissions in the higher learning institute of their choice, as well as their accommodation in a University area
  • Awardees are subjected to obligatory work with the Provincial Department under a contract for the total amount of years the awardee received the bursary
  • Announcements will only be made to students who have been shortlisted for the bursary. Should you not hear back from the committee within 4 months past the application deadline, we regret to inform you that you have not been selected
