At the moment, the company is home to an extensive system of infrastructure assets. Ranging from 127 reservoirs and water towers, to 4 major laboratories, Johannesburg Water goes all out with their facilities to conduct proper processing of their services. About the Johannesburg Water Apprenticeship 2021-2023
Johannesburg Water is inviting talented South African individuals with disabilities to be a part of their wonderful two-year apprenticeship opportunity. The Johannesburg Water Apprenticeship is an inclusive programme that provides credible practical working exposure for candidates who are passionate about the water and sanitation field. As an apprentice, you will learn your way through the industry by undertaking a list of responsibilities in the company. The experience you will receive from being a part of this institution will not just better prepare you for the competitive job market, but it will also transform you in a more attractive asset in the eyes of your future employers.

Apprentices will participate in fulfilling the company’s established missions, which are:

  • Following all public health protocols that are implemented

The Johannesburg Water Apprenticeship is currently available for these fields below:

  • Stakeholder Relations and Communication: Call Centre Agent (2 positions) at Swiss House
  • Technical Services: Verification Officer (4 positions) at Fennel Road Depot
  • Supply Chain Management: Administrator (1 position) at 17 Harrison
  • Meter Reading: Data Capturer (1 position) at Swiss House

Eligibility Criteria
Candidates who wish to apply for the Johannesburg Water Apprenticeship must fulfill a strict eligibility criteria before starting on your registration. The selection committee relies on these requirements to assess their candidates on a fair basis. Each of these items will be key determiners of your application’s success rate. Failure to meet everything might not automatically get you kicked off from registrations. However, it can potentially put your applications under a risky spotlight.

The Johannesburg Water Apprenticeship Eligibility Criteria are as listed below:

  • Officially recognized as a legitimate citizen of South Africa
  • Between 18-30 years old
  • Has a Matric qualification (Technical Services applicants must have Maths and Science as their subjects)
  • Unemployed at the time of applications and during the apprenticeship
  • Has any forms of a disability (confirmed by an official medical certificate)
  • Does not have prior experiences joining apprenticeship programmes in public or private institutions.

To apply for the apprenticeship, interested candidates must prepare the following documents:

  • Your most updated Curriculum Vitae
  • Valid copies of your Matric certificate and other qualification
  • Valid copies of your Identity Document
  • An official medical certificate that confirms your disability.

Please make sure that your medical certificate is issued by an accredited doctor. It should contain details regarding the disability that you have. Candidates found to be falsifying their current conditions will be disqualified from registrations.

Additionally, your Curriculum Vitae should ideally reflect all of your available skills and strengths. It is encouraged that you showcase your competencies that are useful to the apprenticeship’s line of work. This will give you a competitive edge when put up against other candidates.

Your application dossier should contain all of the documents above. Failure to provide everything that is asked of the committee will result in your registration being denied by the selection committee.

Applications must be sent online through e-mail in order to be considered for registrations. The selection committee strictly disallows manual applications.

Closing Date
Applications for the Johannesburg Water Apprenticeship must be submitted before the closing date on 21 December 2020.

The selection committee will not be accepting any late applications. Candidates found to be making their submissions past the registration deadline will not be acknowledged.

Since there is a few days left, candidates are advised to prepare their applications as soon as possible. There is still much time to double check the contents of your applications to make sure that it is all set.

Announcements will only be made to candidates who have been shortlisted for the programme. All correspondences will be made directly by the selection committee.

The Johannesburg Water SOC Ltd reserves all rights to make an appointment. All decisions made by the selection committee are final.

Important Notes
Candidates who are interested in finding an apprenticeship that is outside the area of their current residence must be prepared to search for their own accommodation. On top of that, you must also find your mode of transporation to get to the apprenticeship site. Since apprentices will be receiving a stipend throughout the programme, these costs will be the responsibility of each participant.
