About the Implats (Impala Platinum) Instrument Technician Learnership 2025
Impala Platinum (Implats) is providing Instrument Technician Learnerships for passionate candidates interested in acquiring work knowledge in the company. The Implats Instrument Technician Learnership is a programme that turns South African individuals into credible learners of the mining and metals industry. Upon acceptance into the learnership, participants are subjected to theoretical assessments and practical working solutions designed to provide the basic foundation of becoming an Instrument Technician. Under the supervision of professional training providers, learners are in for a treat with this learnership opportunity.

This learnership program offers selected candidates the opportunity to develop essential skills needed to become Instrument Technicians, ultimately leading to an Instrument Mechanician trade test certificate. Spanning 42 months, the structured training follows the Mining Qualification Authority (MQA) guidelines and culminates in a trade test. Throughout the program, participants will gain a strong foundation in plant instrumentation, PLC programming, SCADA systems, and network setup. Additionally, they will learn how to ensure plant availability, maintain system control, and support operations in meeting production targets by troubleshooting and resolving instrumentation issues.

The Implats (Impala Platinum) Instrument Technician Learnership officially commences on November 2025.

Eligibility Criteria
The Implats Instrument Technician Learnership is available for candidates who meet the programme’s eligibility criteria. Each of these items will determine whether you are well-deserving enough of the learnership. The selection committee will be using these requirements to assess incoming candidates on a fair basis. Failure to adhere to these criteria will get you disqualified from the registration procedure.

The Implats Instrument Technician Learnership Eligibility Criteria are as follows:

  • Has finished either an N6 qualification, S4 qualification, or National Diploma in the field of Electrical Engineering (Light Current)
  • Must have specialized in the department of Instrumentation and Process Control
  • Has prior theoretical knowledge of technical-related terms, such as piping, control systems, and instrumentation
  • Possess a profound understanding of computer literacy, and sound calculation
  • Puts on an analytical mindset
  • Solves problems in an effective manner
  • Proven to be medically healthy for the working conditions in the PMR and BMR plants.
