The Fermel Bursaries Learnership Eligibility Criteria are as follows:
- Be a South African citizen
- Maintain a strong academic record
- Express your interest in working within the underground mining equipment industry
- Currently, you should be in the last year of your degree
- Pursue full-time studies in one of the mentioned fields of study
- Hail from a previously disadvantaged background.
Application Instructions

Candidates will need to send the following documents:
- Application Form for Fermel Bursary
- Certified copy of ID document
- If currently at tertiary level, provide a certified copy of your full academic record
- Certified copies of parents/guardians’ ID documents
- Proof of parents/guardians’ income (latest payslips or employment letter if employed/affidavit if unemployed/proof of SASSA grant if applicable/death certificate if deceased)
- If currently at tertiary level, submit a fees statement on letterhead
- Include a covering letter specifying your field of study and the motivation behind choosing to pursue studies in that field.
Ensure that your application dossier contains all the mentioned documents. Incomplete dossiers will be automatically rejected during the registration period.
Upon submission of your applications, you are authorizing the selection committee to utilize your personal information for the purpose of registering you for the event.
Applicants must send their applications to the provided email address. Any efforts to submit materials through alternative methods, such as hand delivery or fax, will be dismissed by the selection committee.
Closing Date
Applications for the Fermel Bursaries must be submitted before the closing date on 23 February 2024.
The selection committee strictly enforces a zero-tolerance policy for late applications, and submissions received after the closing date will not be acknowledged during the registration period.
