The primary purpose of this role is to perform alterations, repairs, and maintenance on clothing items, uniforms, and linen for guests as well as various hotel departments. In addition to sewing-related duties, the successful candidate will assist with managing the uniform store by monitoring stock levels, organizing issued garments, and maintaining accurate inventory records. The role also involves supporting daily laundry operations through the sorting, counting, packing, and handling of both clean and soiled linen to ensure smooth and efficient departmental operations across the property.

You will be required to perform the duties below:

• Perform alterations and repairs on linen, towels, and guest garments as requested by various departments and hotel guests
• Issue chef uniforms to designated staff members in accordance with operational requirements
• Manage the uniform store and conduct monthly uniform stock counts to ensure accurate inventory control
• Oversee the dispatch of soiled uniforms and coordinate the collection and receipt of cleaned chef uniforms from external laundry service providers
• Support daily laundry operations by sorting, counting, and packing dirty room linen and towels for cleaning and processing.

General Responsibilities as Seamstress

• Perform sewing, stitching, hemming, and garment alteration tasks according to required standards and specifications.
• Repair damaged uniforms, linen, curtains, upholstery, and other fabric items when necessary.
• Measure, cut, and prepare fabrics accurately before sewing or alterations begin.
• Operate and maintain sewing machines, irons, and other sewing equipment safely and efficiently.
• Inspect finished garments and fabric items to ensure high-quality workmanship and attention to detail.
• Replace buttons, zippers, hooks, and other garment accessories as required.
• Assist in designing, adjusting, or customizing garments and fabric materials when requested.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization within the sewing and work area at all times.
• Monitor fabric supplies, sewing materials, and equipment, and report shortages when necessary.
• Follow workplace safety procedures and proper handling practices when using sewing tools and machinery.
