About the eThekwini Municipality SAICA Graduate Traineeship 2025
eThekwini Municipality is seeking for candidates who would like to improve their abilities in the Accounting department through their SAICA Graduate Traineeship. The eThekwini Municipality SAICA Graduate Traineeship is designed to provide graduate accountants with the opportunity to complete a structured three-year in-house training programme. Through this initiative, participants gain extensive exposure to the fields of accounting and finance while working directly within the Municipality’s treasury departments.

The programme equips trainees with both practical experience and professional development, ensuring they build the necessary competencies to meet the rigorous standards of the accounting profession. In doing so, the Municipality not only supports the growth of future finance professionals but also strengthens its own capacity in managing public financial resources effectively.

You will  be required to perform the duties below:

  • Prepare the draft estimate report
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual report and annual financial statements
  • Compile the annual and multi-year operating and capital budgets for the assigned output units
  • Account for compensation costs related to occupational injuries and diseases
  • Undertake various reconciliations required for the preparation of the AFS
  • Provide sufficient provisions for all bad and doubtful debts.
