Eskom is one of South Africa’s most recognised public utilities that is responsible for the supply and electricity. Since its formation in 1923, it was formerly known as the Electricity Supply Commission. Having produced a huge amount of electrical resources, the establishment is not only active in South Africa, but also within the African continent as well.

Eskom is home to a number of power stations, which include the Medupi Power Station, Matimba Power Station, Kendal Power Station, Kusile Power Station, and more. With its expansive presence, the utility has been able to maintain itself throughout the years.

About the Eskom Bursaries 2024
Eskom is offering multiple bursary programmes for talented students pursuing either a B Eng. or BSc Electrical Engineering or National Diploma qualification. The Eskom Bursaries program is an all-inclusive initiative that accepts applicants from a variety of various backgrounds.

As an awardee, you will receive all of the assistance you need to complete your academic degree or certificate program successfully. If you have consistently achieved high academic results while also demonstrating excellent traits as a student, you are strongly urged to apply for this position.

At the moment, the programme is offering two kinds of bursaries:

• University Bursars X50 (B Eng./BSc Electrical Engineering – Heavy Current and Light Current, Mechatronics, Mechanical, Chemical, & Civil)
• University of Technology Bursars X35 (Diploma Electrical Engineering – Heavy Current and Light Current, Mechanical, & Chemical)

Eligibility Criteria

The Eskom Bursaries Eligibility Criteria are as follows:

• Officially recognised as a citizen of South Africa
• Has become a matriculant during in 2023
• Has a conditional admission offer of study from the University of Technology to study any one of these qualifications:
  • BEng/BSc Mechanical Engineering
  • BEng/BSc Electrical Engineering Heavy current
  • BEng/BSc Civil Engineering
  • BEng/BSc Electrical Engineering Light current
  • BEng/BSc Chemical Engineering
  • BEng/BSc Mechatronics
  • Diploma Electrical Engineering Heavy current
  • Diploma Chemical Engineering
  • Diploma Mechanical Engineering
  • Diploma Electrical Engineering Light current
• Is not pursuing any other bursary or registered in any tertiary institution
• Must have their 2022 Final Grade 11 results slip with these minimum scores:
  • Pure Maths Level 4
  • English Level 5 (Level 4 for Diploma)
  • Physical Science Level 5 (Level 4 for Diploma).

Closing Date
Applications for the Eskom Bursaries must be submitted before the closing date on 24 July 2023.

Please submit your applications as soon as feasible. Early registration might help you secure a position throughout the registration period. Furthermore, it avoids any unwelcome last-minute surprises, such as unexpectedly excessive Internet traffic or missing papers.

Applications for the program must be filed before the deadline. The selection committee will not accept late applications, and such entries will be excluded from the program.

Announcements will only be made to shortlisted candidates. If you do not hear back from the selection committee within 20 days past the deadline, we regret to inform you that you have not been chosen for the programme.

During the recruiting phase, Eskom has complete authority to employ anyone. The selecting committee’s choices are final.
