Drakenstein Municipality is offering financial assistance for bright-minded South African students who are pursuing full-time studies in the 2024 academic year. The Drakenstein Municipality Bursaries is an all-inclusive programme that welcomes people of all different backgrounds. As an awardee, you will be provided with the necessary support to chase after your academic qualification. The Drakenstein Municipality Bursaries is available for the fields below:

• Artisan Development Training certification (e.g. Welding, Diesel Mechanics, Building Construction, Heavy Current, Plumbing)
• Accredited Skills Programmes (e.g. Grasscutting, Painting, Digger-loader, Hairdressing, Welding)
• Sports Administration, Public Administration, and Services-relevant fields (e.g. Firefighting, Law Enforcement, Traffic Management, Human Resources, Public Management)
• Engineering fields (e.g. Electro-Technical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering)
• Finance fields (Auditing, Accounting, Financial Management)
• Town and Regional Planning, Local Economic Development and Tourism, Environment, Architectural Technology, Solid Waste, Water/Wastewater relevant fields
• Community and Social Development-relevant fields.

Eligibility Criteria
First and foremost, you must familiarize yourself with the program’s eligibility standards. Each of these criteria will influence whether or not you would be an excellent candidate. In case you’d want to double-check your credentials, please refer to the list of qualifying prerequisites provided below. Ideally, if you want to enhance your chances of success, you should be able to meet all of the requirements on the following list.

The Drakenstein Municipality Bursaries Eligibility Criteria are as follows:

• Currently between the ages of 18-35 years old
• Considered as a permanent resident of the Drakenstein Municipal region
• Planning to pursue or is already studying towards a full-time education at an accredited Higher Education and Training Institution in South Africa
• Planning to pursue or is already studying towards a full-time education in either one of the study fields mentioned above for the 2024 academic year.

Once you have downloaded the application form, you will need to go through the instructions first. Make sure you follow everything accordingly if you want a smooth application. Anything that’s written wrong on the form might put you in a risky position.

Additionally, you will need to prepare the following documents:

• Certified copy of Drakenstein Municipality’s Utility Bill
• Certified copy of both parent’s salary slips
• Certified copy of June and/or final year results/previous results
• Certified identity document
• Application form completed in full with signatures
• Proof of application/admission to the relevant study institution of Higher Education and
• Training with projected study duration, course scope, tuition costs and relevant banking details
• In the case of parents/guardian not working original affidavit (South African Police Services) declaring as such.

All these documents should be included in your application dossier. Incomplete application dossiers might cause you to lose your chances of a successful application entirely.
