Distell Millwright Apprenticeship 2021-2022
Distell is offering fruitful apprenticeship programmes to talented South African individuals who wish to master their trade in the growing Millwright field. The Distell Millwright Apprenticeship is an entry-level programme that will help you master your craft. Under the company’s guidance, you will be guided along the way as you gain more knowledge and skills. The Distell Millwright Apprenticeship will be conducted at the company’s Distell SA Distilleries Van Ryn, based in Stellenbosch. From the start of the apprenticeship, participants are required to report directly to the Engineering Specialist. Interested candidates must be prepared to spend 80 weeks in the apprenticeship as part of their required practical exposure under a recognized working environment. This apprenticeship is specifically designed for participants who are required to pass a trade test in their respective institutions to receive an accredited qualification as Millwright. All selected apprentices must be available to start their contract beginning from 01 February 2021.

Apprenticeship Responsibilities

  • Following all of the training sessions held by the apprenticeship
  • Showing progress to attain a qualification as a Millwright Artisan
  • Attending the training programme from start to finish
  • Delivering impressive work and maintaining stable learning progress
  • Doing all of the duties as tasked by the apprenticeship.

Eligibility Criteria
The Distell Millwright Apprenticeship is only available for a select number of candidates who meet the programme’s standards. Each of these items mentioned in the eligibility criteria will play a crucial role in deciding whether you are perfect for the role or not. The Distell Millwright Apprenticeship Eligibility Criteria are as follows:
1. Basic Requirements

  • Possess a Matric qualification with Maths and Science
  • Has an N3 or Diploma qualification in the field of Engineering, as well as subjects relevant to Mechanical and Electrical trade theory
  • Solves problems pertaining to technical matters
  • Shows proven fluency with their communication abilities
  • Willing to work under immense pressure
  • Has a keen eye for small details
  • Follows all of the company’s codes of conduct and regulations.

2. Other Requirements

  • Has their own reliable mode of transporation
  • Prepared to work extra hours or shifts
  • Available for possible relocation in any Distell operation.
